I started putting together my first HT system about a month ago. So far I have purchased a denon avr 1712 and some energy cb-5 bookshelves . Gonna purchase my sub Hsu Stf-2 and a center next week and am wondering if the polk rti a1 would be a good upgrade. The energy sound good, but don't wow me. I have the opportunity to pick up the polk pretty cheap and was wondering if it would be worth while to ditch the energy's. I could also biamp the polk which I can't do on the energy's? Thanks for any help. System will he used primarily for how ht and some occasional music and gaming.

The RTiA1's and the CSiA4 will match up very well together and would be good for H/T and music. I can't comment on the energy cb-5 bookshelves as I havn't listened to them. You don't seem impressed by them though, and the polks sound like they are going for a good price and are decent speakers to have. You wouldn't have to bi-amp them, in order to get a good sound, so I would just run 1 wire to each speaker. I would get the Polks especially since you feel the price is good. They are excellent Bang for the Buck speakers. Then later on you could upgrade your fronts to towers ( Rtia5's or 7's if you get the urge ) and use the RTiA1's for surrounds. All your speakers will then match up perfectly.
