The 59 and 79 avi's are both good universal players and do very well as a straight up cdp. I have the 59 and it sounds better than it has a right to. You can find these players all day for under 200 bucks.
The PD-D9J kicks it up a few notches, how much I dunno, never did a side by side comparison.

Totally selling my 59AVi for $100. No remote though :(

When I was operating my repair shop such would happen quite often (however the board was not always cracked) that the main board would need to be reworked after a move or shipping of some sort (never a ding on the casing) thus the importance of proper packaging. A shock during transport can damage the board without damaging the encolsure at all.

The way you describe packing, I understand why there is no damage to the enclosure however, the package must have felt from a fork lift at decent height to damage the board like that. If you look, the damage starts from the board screw location (weak link). Was the box seamed to be crushed at all when you received it?

If the sale went through Amazon marketplace you should be covered, if the seller stalls, I would contact Amazon directly. They should make things right.

He mailed me and said FedEx will arrange for pick up today but must be tomorrow. so he wants it back and I've decided to not get another 2800. I don't really know what I'll get but hopefully it will be something with good build quality like a Denon something. Any of ya'll tried the newer Denon Uni players? they look nice but a little too futuristic for me lol
