Waiting on UPS for my wire, plugs & cables...any time now this morning...will be wiring this up all day today for some fun tonight!!! lol...But I'll tell ya, reading the Denon's manual...Jeez, this is much different then just my old plug n' play 2 channel days...The Denon looks intimidating as far as setup goes...crossover points, big, large, etc...

QUESTION: HDMI from the HD cable box to the TV/CBL assignable input and then a HDMI from the Denon's #1 Monitor spot to the Samsung...correct??...

Another question: what is the #2 Monitor slot marked "out" on the Denon used for??...

First question, yes that's how it works.

Second question, that's for a second TV.

Don't rock out too hard yet... Let it all break in first!

Congrats, looks like a very nice system.

Nice thing is that Denon has preouts if you ever need them.

    That sub looks killer.

Thanks man...Oh yeah, I'm gonna need um alright!!...the pre outs I'm talkin' about : )

Gonna sound odd, set the A9's to small. Otherwise the Denon will and run them full range and will put a lot of extra stress on it.

Check out AVSFORUM and look for batpigs instructions (if he's got them for this model). He kinda has some good breakdown of how to hook stuff up in much better english than the manual lol....

If you wanted to output the same HDMI in signal to another screen. Think like your using a TV, but also want to use a projector for movies. HDMI 2 allows for you to connect both and then switch between using the TV and Projector.

Circuit breaker is good, outlet is good...there a nightlight in the top receptacle that is working so there is power...It was working for about a half or or so then I was doing something with my back to the sub and I heard something...almost like something falling on the floor off the table or something...it got my attention...I turned around and didn't realize it was the sub till I went to mess with it a few minutes later...it was dead...no power...Thought it may be the fuse...went to Home Depot and got the correct ones and tried a few of them...nothing...

I guess call Polk customer service... might have just got a bad unit. It happens to the best of us.

When I called Polk this morning about the sub and explained what was wrong they first offered to send me out the amplifier section for the sub...said it would be faster then shipping out a new sub all together...thought about it for a sec and decided to have them send a new one to me...

Yeah, I like Denon receivers, but their manuals are terrible. I have a good amount of A/V experience, and I still had trouble figuring out some things since their manuals are so poorly written. They really need to hire someone competent to write the manuals and improve that aspect of their products.

EDIT: I wish I would have known about that BATPIG site when I was setting up my Denon. It looks like it would've been a big help.

I've been sitting here now in the sweet spot for a few days messin' with the GUI, MacBook Pro (great machine) on my lap opened up to BATPIG and the Denon manual opened up by my side...and 6 remote controls!!! HaaHaa...AND all the while with a blown sub!!! (new one on the way) I't's all starting to make sense to me now...I can't stress enough though, I'm one of those old school 2 channel (the simple life) audiophile type dudes that sometimes listen too damn hard to the equipment...Time to lighten up, find some patience (at 49 years old) and relax with my new HT hobby and listen to the music...

Ok, new sub is here and all is working properly...Have the A9's, the center and surrounds all set to small...@ 80Hz...The Low Pass switch on the sub?...is that disabled or does it have to be set??...have it near 80Hz also...

Another question: Can I also set the crossover for the surrounds??...or is the 80Hz I have set now for the mains and the surrounds??

...love this 5 ch. stereo setting the best so far...everything sounds great...still breaking things in but the Denon 4308 seems to push the A9's ok...an amp is definitely in my future!!

At the moment, I'm looking for a dedicated cd player instead of using my dvd player...any suggestions??
