The Epsons are rated for 4,000 hours even in high lamp, so he's good. I have 2,700 hours on my 8500UB and it's still brighter than my Sanyo PLV-Z2000 was even at its brightest. Plus, Epson has been offering free spare lamps with purchase lately anyway.

3000hrs? Spare lamps? Why you lucky bastids!!!

Yup! And at 2,700+ hours on mine, it seriously has enough brightness to make you squint with full white screens and it's still watchable even with some of the lights on. Love it! I didn't get a spare bulb with mine, but if it blows within my 2 year warranty, Epson will send me a new one overnight for free.

I just ordered a Mitsubishi hc4000....a DLP. Electronics Expo was running a deal with a coupon code which I cannot recall....if you need it, PM me.

Based on the reviews, my room and screen size, lamp life, and price, I think its a good match. Its the last piece to my new HT....pics to come.

Are you guys having to run on High Lamp mode at all ? I find myself running on High Lamp mode around the 1K hr mark. Any of you guys having to do so with the Epson's or Panasonic models?

I have been running on Eco since I bought the projector and I am about 1,300 hours in and it is still nice and bright.

The image quality and sheer size is fantastic on the Panasonic but I only really use it on the weekends or when people are over. As mentioned, it is a bit much for casual viewing, particularly for me during the week.

I would not want the projector as my only display as I tend to use my plasma much more frequently and it is more convenient.
