Info on front projectors

Well after searching this site I can't find the link I saw before. can't even get the same hits I had last night using the same search words. So pardon me for asking a question I'm sure has been answered before...
I am looking into swapping out the 27" TV for a front projection system. Any good sites to visit for information? I thought I read something about AVS?!? I'm thinking $5,000 tops for the projector itself. This would go into a new house I'm building (hopefully building this fall), and into a room dedicated to HT (read I'm not married, LOL).
Just for info my local dealer where purchased my speakers sells infocus and Marantz. The 5700 is the one he recommended and will hook up to show me. I am one of those luck few who can see the color wheel but I think DLP is the way I want to go so I need a good projector and want to know which ones will work for me. The Marantz they had looked good and did not hurt my eyes but it he said it would run me $8000 (it is not the latest model either).
Thanks in advance.

www.avsforum.com does have a lot of info. WWW.Projectorcentral.com has a calculator for determininging screen sizes and throw distances. WWW.Froogle.com, WWW.PriceGrabber.com are good for finding the lowest price.
My FP should be delivered next week.:) -
The bulb life is between 1300/1800hrs before it will need tending to from what I have heard, depending on the use it could be a once a year thing. It was not recomended for daily use (like a tv) from a hi-end HT installer, at least that is also what mine would have been used for. The $400+ per bulb kinda turned me off for now anyway. I'm sure others like ScottVamp can help you a wholelot better then I, try looking up his posts I'm sure you'll find it.

I am not a projector expert, but I have the infocus X1 which is less than $1,000. It is DLP and took the market by storm last year. I think it is awesome. I am sure you can get a lot better, but it will cost a lot more. The main factor is light control. Mine is in the basement where I have total light control. If you have a lot of windows or don't like watching in the dark, don't get a front projector. I have a 55 inch rear projector I use daily. I only get the screen down for HDTV or DVD's. The bulb on the infocus has a 4000 hour life. Most are around 2000. AVSForum is the best place to gain info.

Gonzo,
Did you sell your RPTV yet? I've still got mine on ebay.
