I decided to run a little test of my own because ive been reading a whole lot of theory's lately on Hook up and wiring..Bi wiring..gauge..and brands folks are using..
I found some extension cords laying in the barn...(14/2) according to whats stamped into the cord..according to the gauge on my strippers(Ideal Reflex T stripper).Actual copper wire i would say is consistently a gauge smaller after its stripped..I twisted the three wires(black, white, ground)to make one electrode and cut it to 20 ft lengths..It equaled a solid 10 gauge wire once twisted..I paired this up with another twisted the same way and hooked those up to the front channel of a denon avr788/polk M70..Did the same with some monster ultra 600 cable (12gauge on my strippers) on the other channel..All the claims Ive read and heard are seriously blown way out of proportion..Side by side I heard no difference even At several different volume levels ..NONE..To make it fair I took one of the three wires out of the equation on the extension cord to make it a solid 12 gauge to match the diameter of the monster cable..Still NO audible difference at several volume levels..I did the same with some 16 gauge wire i had from some old HTIB..There was definitly an audible difference between the 16gauge and the 12 gauge..Size really does matter when it comes to speaker installation..Not the name on the package..Saved a ton of cash being resourceful..and running my own tests..forget some of what you read and use yor ears..think outside the box..

Be sure to read the entire post, fellas...this was spotted toward the bottom of the OP's post.

LOL...sorry I got lost in all the run-on sentences.

However in my defense also buried was this compare between the extension cord and his monster cable lol:

It's all good. I think we all know where this thread will end up anyway, so on that note? I'll be sliding out indefinitely now....

So you tried a cord you found in a barn and M* cable and based on a completely unstructured, uncontrolled listening session you can conclusively state brand doesn't matter.

WOW.....what a load......... you should work in a government job, or maybe you already do.

Btw, I'm not discounting what you heard, just your methods and mostly the hysterically funny conclusion.

I don't think cables make any difference. But if you couldn't hear a difference between right and left speakers in different locations, you may be partially deaf. I won't even ask if it was a stereo signal.

stereo..mono..side by side..5ft apart..10 ft apart..It didnt matter..the monster cable did not outshine or so much as even stand out against the 25cent ext cord..Copper is copper boys..If they wanna drop cash like that good for them..Just making the point you dont have do break bank on gimmicks to have a killer system..Thats all..Seems ive struck a nerve so to speak..Didnt kno it was such a sensitive subject..I can honestly say I have not gotten any input or proof yet..or where to get the proof..And if its something thats transmitted i cant hear then whats the point..just sayin.

Ah, but you have gotten input and proof, your own ears and experiments. That's all the proof you need. Don't worry...be happy.

    Welcome to Club Polk HTaddict.

Just for your information, cables & IC's cause the biggest debates & disruptions on this board, and every other board for that matter.

So do yourself a favor, and just don't bother with these threads. You have done your own tests, come to your own conclusions & are happy with the results that you have discovered. Congratulations & enjoy your system.

Cathy, he knows full well what's going on. I've seen him bait in other threads. There isn't any doubt he's just stirring up the waters.

Who said Monster is any good? Their cables sound like crap. So if there is no audible difference.... then your extension frakencord sounds like crap, too.
Good music, a good source, and good power can make SDA's sing. Tubes make them dance.
