Movies with exact same topics in the same year

This bothers me. Every time I search movies by year, I find some trend... often times you'll find two, or even three movies with the exact same subject in the same year. Examples: 1998: Armageddon, Deep Impact...2006: The Illusionist, The Prestige ... 2010: Kick-****, Super

I had a list going a while ago and there were tons. Why does this happen? Does someone like write two scripts then sell them two for one or something?

yes... one script will spawn several copy cat movies.. which most times are worse than the first one.

most every "chick flick" has the same premise.. think about it... those scripts would be very easy to write... usually a single women in her 30's, falls for her best male friend who just happens to be ****.. she made an agreement with him that if both were single by the time they were 33 yrs old, and neither one had found a mate.. they agreed while drunk one night back in college that they would marry each other.:tongue: and it'll usually star Jennifer Aniston

am I wrong on this? No!:wink:

there is the spoiler for the next 10 chick flick movies.

Volcano and Dante's Peak were both out in 1997. I safely managed to avoid them both.

Jumper (Feb 2008) vs Push (Feb 2009)? Are those dates too far apart for consideration? I've seen both.

Tombstone (1993) and Wyatt Earp (1994)... close enough...

Always wanted to take the best of both these and merge them, e.g., subbing Val Kilmer for Dennis Quaid.
    More later,

Thus the reason I'm finding the animated movies to be more entertaining than conventional movies.

Although years apart time wise.. Dances With Wolves and Avatar.
