I need some feedback. I'm seriously looking at purchasing the Pioneer Elite VSX-32 or 33 to power my new system. I am purchasing the RTi A5's for my fronts and then will add the rest later.
What is your opinion of these two receivers to run my speakers? Or would you recommend something else? As far as price goes I have found both these receivers for around $650 to $700, which is a littler more than I wanted to spend, but if this is the best way to go, then I am willing to do it.
I would love your feedback on this as I hope to purchase a receiver this weekend.
Thanks!

I would see if you snag a used sc 05 or 25 locally, I've seen them pop up on CL for under 700. Also be on the lookout for a vsx21txh or 23.
Those are last years models and can be had for fairly cheap. I actually prefer those because you still get multichannel inputs.
If you have to have new then the 33 is a good choice. -

+1 - If you are willing to go refurbed, I've seen the SC-25 for 650.00 online. Good luck! -
Ok, can you guys tell me what the difference is between the sc-25 and sc-35 other than last years model. Also, what is the difference between HDMI 1.3a (last years model) and 1.4a (this years model)?
Thanks!

Another vote for the IceAmps in the Pio Elite SC05/07, 25/27. Either should be in or relatively close to your budget.Shoot the jumper.....................BALLIN.............!!!!!

Hdmi 1.4 gets you 3d. I would say get a year old model if you can, you'll get the same performance and save some cash.

Ok, well I'm doing some looking for the sc-25. I'm hesitant because of the items being refurbished and not knowing a whole lot about the companies. Any suggestions on where to look and is a refurbished by manufacturer a safe way to go?
Thanks again for the help! -
Refurbs are usually fine. It's better if you can buy from an authorized dealer or at least someone who has a decent warranty. Pioneer Elites are known to be solid units though, so I doubt you'd run into trouble.
I will say this, the ICE amps are nice, and most people will just default to telling you to buy those models, but the VSX series is no slouch and some people (including myself) may prefer that sound over the ICE amps. The ICE amps are higher end, but that doesn't necessarily always mean better sound. They're a Class D design and do have a unique sound, up to you whether or not you like that paired with your speakers.
The SC isn't just more of the VSX sound, it's different, and most people agree for the better.
I actually prefer the sound of my VSX-23TXH over the SC25 that I tried on my PSB speakers. The SC has more balls, but I don't need it with my speakers. The SC does sound better at very low volumes than the VSX, but at volumes that I'd normally listen at the VSX just sounds better to me. I know its an inferior product per almost any measurement you can think of, but I like it better and that's what counts.
Having said all that, most people prefer the SC and you probably will as well. -
^^^^ Good solid advice from AsSiMiLaTed - You can't really go wrong either way, both will be solid performers, and in the end with both, if your not happy with the sound, you'll be able to add an amp! If you DO go with a refurb, you can always look at an online warranty company, I understand there pretty inexpensive, and will cover up to the cost of the unit. Good luck!

like my 32 Elite a lot and have had 0 issues so far-9 months or so. Keep in mind, if you buy anywhere except an authorized dealer, Pioneer doesn't honor the warranty for Elite products. If you use an AMEX card, they will cover the 3rd year but the not the first 2.

Ok, I keep hearing that I need to buy my Pioneer through an authorized dealer. If I buy it through Amazon and it is shipped from what I am guessing is an authorized dealer, does that work.
I think I am leaning towards purchasing the VSX-33 through Amazon. Reason being is that I was given two nice gift cards for Amazon and this will greatly help with covering the price of the receiver.
Any thoughts on this and Amazon?
Thanks!
