    And you ask why kids have such a sense of entitlement?

    The main answer as been to just cave and let them use it with a "max" volume...

    He already GAVE them a nice system!

    Sorry, but this is a time when they learn to be respectful MEN, or spolied little boys.

    When I turned 16, my Father cut me off. He put a roof over my head and fed me. Other than that, ANYTHING I wanted I had to earn. For my 16th birthday he drove me around picking up job applications.

    It's not because he could not afford to give me anything I wanted, because he could... He just felt I had to make my own way in this world, and if I want something bad enough, I have to learn how to get it for myself.

    My upbringing was pretty much the same. At the time I had some resentment toward my dad, however at this point all I feel is appreciation, my father knew the world was tough, he wanted and made sure I was competent.

    Why don't you put your equipment in a rack and have a locking door on it? If you really want to lock it down you could secure the rack in a position that you cant get to the equipment through the back with tamper proof bolts or something of that nature (maybe a locking hasp since the screws are covered). High quality locks go a long way in preventing picking, but if it gets to that point maybe you should consider other options such as embracing them as users and educating them in how to use the equipment properly, because i would see no way to keep them out. All a lock does is keep an honest man honest.
