Nice review on budget Emotiva XPA-3 Amp

If someone was touting the virtues of a Pass Labs first watt, would your approach be the same?
There are haters everywhere. Beleive me I've caught some flak for discussing the above. And believe me I'm done discussing Pass and FW unless there is a specific question.

I paid $699 for my EMOTIVA XPA5 in late 2009, the curent price for anXPA5 is $899On December 30th 2010 I purchased my XPA-3 on sale from Emotiva for $529.00. I think MSRP was $579 or $599 at that time.
Sorry guys. Too cheap for me to talk about them. When someone can actually, factually, technically describe what 'reference' is then a real conversation can take place
Easy. Whatever I say sounds good._________________________________________________

Lets be honest shall we. It's no secret that some "target" the Emotiva discussions with more than passive disagreement, right? So somebody gets a little excited about their newly purchased Emotiva amp, what's the big deal? Is it some sort of personal attack on hi-fi?

So when someone comes and post a thread touting Emo again, like the million times before, whats the point? It comes across that OHHH LOOKKK Emo is such good thing, everyone look at MEEEEE.
Where do you get your info from about me? Where have I written anywhere or anything that resembles "OHHH LOOKKK Emo is such good thing, everyone look at MEEEEE."
And then you end you post with "Good for entry HT but hated for 2 channel."
Did you read what I wrote.....the same exact thing but used different words!
Have a nice day pal! -

If weren't so new here you'd know. This subject has been beaten to death several times over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over.
It's always the same, nothing changes, no one's mind is changed. It's a waste and tiresome.
But carry-on in true Club Polk fashion.

Remember, there is a thread floating around here where a group of polkies at a GTG said an XPA-2 sounded exactly like a Sunfire Signature. Just goes to show you that this stuff can be all over the place in opinion and preference.

There is also a thread floating around where at a polkies GTG, no one cared for the forward, bloated Emo amp. So what's your point? I've heard both and I can say the difference in my experience is pretty vast. So again what's your point?
FTR, I don't think Sunfire is all that great to my ears.

If this is truely the case, I appologize for starting what looks to be another feud about Emotiva.
I honestly thought that showing that review along with my comments would (edited after: douse the "Emotiva holier than holy" owner attitudes.) show that some of us do not have the "Emotiva holier than holy" owner attitude.
I tried to bring a balanced and down to earth written observation of the amp that I own to a community that I am fairly new at, but some people just want to argue and complain about.
I will take my dinky toys and go home now! :frown:

Well two points now.
1. You don't or can't read
2. I will reiterate what I said: Just goes to show you that this stuff can be all over the place in opinion and preference. -

It should have, but then you mis-judged the "holier than holy" Emotiva owners. I thought the review summed it up pretty well. Entry level, better than most AVR's, inexpensive and for HT.
Problem is there are a lot of people who think Emo can compete at a higher level and it simply can't. If you are an owner of Emotiva gear and like it, enjoy it. That's all that matters
H9
P.s. Not all Emotiva owners are holier than holy.........just ahd to put that out there since so many readers comprehend in absolutes."Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. Opinion as fact. Have to love it:rolleyes: The person I sold one of my Parasound amps to can't distinguish it from his UPA-2. Again just goes to show you the wide amount of variability that is out there in preference. -
Parasound HCA1000a is hardly higher level. Again, if you enjoy the Emo gear, then have at it and have fun. It simply does absolutely nothing for me musically. And that's a fact.

Some has been said soooo many times about the obsolete SDA products and it still happens almost daily, does anyone cry or wine about it? Just about daily people commends the vintage Monitor series (70s, 60s, 40s and so on) along with the vintage PSW505. This people's opinion on the product and nobody comes to the discussion bashing either the poster or the product. Why should it be different with emo? Because it is not your cup of tea?Its always the same thing. Emo is great for the money, thats cool, no one will argue besides saying there are also used options, once again something said several times before.
:rolleyes:If someone was touting the virtues of a Pass Labs first watt, would your approach be the same?

Just the fact that people take the time to open the thread and comment says a lot. Whatever gear that is really not worth talking about, people wouldn't even take the time to open and reply (even the nay sayers)If weren't so new here you'd know. And Sunfire has been raved by many here. :rolleyes:And they should sound similar. Sunfire is not Hi Fi.
This is a simple thread about a review (not an argument). There has been many posts on various products reviews (including Polk) and all people have to do is acknowledge the review and comment on it. It would be a lot wiser if people would comment on the review (agree/disagree) with facts to back-up their statements instead of bashing the product and/or the OP. Anything different is useless and counter productive (furthermore, IMO it is trolling).DARE TO SOAR:

yeahh. No my post weren't inflamtory sorry. I merely stated a fact. Emo has been discussed here ad nausea and it gets old quick. The whole post was something that people have said here time after time. Good budget stuff but not good for two channel. So what was the point of the post? Oh look a reviewer said something similar....
and here's the fact. If we disagree with the review (such as people normally do with Emo etc etc) its then rained on by the Emo fans and saying that we are wrong blah blah blah.
So we disagree with the review because we don't like the gear. OK and where did we start bashing the OP. Seriously you think I'm bashing but what I put?
Oh wait I forgot you are the one that thinks anything is being a cyber bully. -
Did the thought ever occur to anyone that maybe some people don't have the big bucks to spend? OR, possibly, they don't want to spend that kind of money? Get it through your head, not everyone wants to dump their every resource into audio. I'm getting ready to blow about 2 grand in Vegas---gonna give it to some card dealers in exchange for a good time---could that have bought me my turntable? Oh yeah, but you know I have a life outside of audio. Sounds like some of you need one too.
My point, this stuff is all relative. There's always gonna be a bigger fish--some like that merry go round, some don't. Some just sit and listen to music, on their seemingly overrated, underbuilt equipment, but enjoying themselves nonetheless. We're content, how about you?Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Source: Rotel CD14MkII CD Player - Speakers: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2 -
Did the thought ever occur to anyone that I'm just having fun? There is NO WAY people will agree on a theme such as this one. So better have some fun while at it.

Oh give me a flippin break. EVERYTHING gets talked to death on here. There are probably a 1000 threads on how to power the LSI's correctly, I don't see you going off and foaming at the mouth about those threads, or the tube, vinyl, SDA, ect. threads that always equals the same thing.
If you can manage to control yourself with all those other umpteen threads you can do so with the umpteen Emotiva threads. Or just excercise some self control and stay out of them!
Better yet, find a RECENT Emotiva thread were someone said that it was the end all to be all. If you can't do that, then LET IT GO! You're just crapping in these threads to start trouble. And telling people that they don't belong on a forum because they like higher end gear isn't being a snob either?
No one ever said you have to buy high end gear, nor do a lot of people run super high end gear around here.
The problem is, and like I said before is that this has been discussed far too many times and always equals the same thing.
