I have an onkyo tx-nr 808 receiver (used as pre pro to emotiva xpa-5). My blu ray is also an onkyo. The problem I am experiencing is that whenever I try to use my onkyo blu ray (via the receiver) i hear this crackling sound coming from my center speaker. So I decided to shutoff the blu ray and press (only) the BD/DVD button on the receiver, the sound is still present. All connections are HDMI. The blu ray worked beautiful prior to the new Onkyo 808 receiver. does anyone have knowledge of this. Don't know if I bypassed some setup in the menu. Thanks tavo

Make sure your HDMI connection is secure on both ends?

So you're saying that with the BD player off and and BD input selected on the receiver you're still getting the sound, or did I not read that correctly? If that's the case, here's what I'd do, in this order (this assume you've already unplugged and replugged the cable in to ensure there are no loose connections):

1 - Try unplugging the HDMI cable from the receiver completely, if you still have the sound on the BD input then you've got a problem with the receiver. If the sound goes away then proceed...
2 - Plug the HDMI cable back in to your receiver and unplug the cable from the BD player. If the sound goes away then it's your BD player. If the sound is still there proceed....
3 - Try a different HDMI cable. If the sound goes away then you have a bad cablle, replace and problem solved.

If you've done all that and still have the sound and no known cause, then report back here and we'll see if we can help further

Thanks very much, I will try that when I get home today. All the other features work fine with the receiver (FM-CABLE-TAPE-PHONO) in surround mode. The crackling seems to be coming from my Csi center, but only when using the blu ray player. THANKS AGAIN TAVO
