New,,that is,,apparently they are implementing a huge increase. I wonder what this will do to the used market,,hmm. Here's the link, seems it's true.

Thanks for the info - more than one way to beat inflation ;)

Seriously, if you were thinking of going with a serious tube, this might be a safe time to do it as you could probably get your $ out if it didn't like how is sounded in your system.
SDA SRS modded: X’ovrd, de-polyed, inductorized, interconnectorized, re-posted, dynamited, RDO’d, spiked, gasketed, ringed (Larry's), and grill cloth blinged! Done this on my own? Not a chance. Thanks to Raife and all who forged easy to follow upgrades. At least a 100% improvement in sound and my personal listening pleasure! :cheesygrin:Pass XP-10 preamp, Parasound A21 amp, Pioneer Elite DV-58AV (Ric Shultz modded), Audioquest Sky IC's, No longer need my Sunfire sub after mods...

A pair of Snappers is on my short list of must have items.

I gotta wonder, I mean, it's possible....but why? I mean, to just double the price makes zero sense and seems like suicide.

I saw that ad on the 'gon.....and dismissed it as someone trying to justify thier price.

There's nothing on Manley's site about it.

    Rich's posts are bang-on.

Last year we went through all of our products, both pro studio and hifi, and re-audited all of our build costs and recalibrated the prices. It is all based on a simple multiplier up from actual build cost. The pro gear prices went up in December. No whining on the pro audio boards. Most folks have seen rising costs all around them and can appreciate that our manufacturing costs have also gone up. Is this any big surprise?

I've been kickin' around the notion of a used Stingray or a Rouge Cronus Magnum...any ideas on which one would drive a pair of 1C's into audio bliss?

I missed a good used Stingray on A'gon last week that sold for $1300...the new series retail at close to 3K...

btw, does anyone know if a AI-1 cable is needed when powering SDA's with a Stingray?I "think" they are a dual-mono design.

No AI-1 cable needed. I ran a pair of SRS 2's and 2B TL's off a Stingray and they both sounded fantastic.

According to THIS ad, "Snappers will increase from $4,250 to $7,250." While there is some motivation for exaggerating the increase for this person, if it's accurate, that is one hell of an increase.

Can't afford it at 4Gs but that increase is scary if it's true. I've heard some Manely tube amps and I certainly wouldn't mind having one for my SDAs but it's just not in the 'budget'?

I think the price increases are a sign of the economy,I doubt if anyone has had any significant price increases in the past couple of years.

These are just two American owned companies that are trying to compete in the world market. They hafta make a profit.

As Sal stated, the Stingray and 1C's with a Jolida CDP and MIT cables were sonic bliss at Ted's house.

You know,,I had forgotten just how good that rig did sound.IIRC you guys were switching between CDP's,,my wife just loved the Stingray,, she remarked the it looked like a little Christmas Village, with the tubes glowing,, it did sound good, real good,,Mike given the circumstances,,I think a Stingray is in your future,,eh?

BTW-- Manley will honor current pricing,,so you place your order,,maybe wait a bit until delivery,,I'll bet their sales from now to mid Feb shows a spike.

WCW has a pair of Mahi's

    here,,

They go into effect Feb 15th. If someone wants to buy some Manley gear, get it now... orders places now may take a while to get filled, but they are honoring the current prices until the 15th. Some examples:

Manley Mahi will go from $2,500/pair to $4,600/pair
Manley Stingray II will go from $3,000 to $5,650
Manley Snappers will go from $4,250/pair to $7,250/pair
Manley Jumbo Shrimp preamp will go from $2,300 to $3,660

Damn, those are certainly some price increases...a used Stingray is about outa my league,no way to spring for a new one at these prices.

Yeah, I agree. The one tube amp I was gonna replace mine with would be that Manley 500. I'm guessing at this point that it will be decades before that happens now. Unless I hit the lottery. Dang, so much for reachable dream amps....

Would the snapper 100 mono's have enough to push a speaker like LSiM 707, or would you need the 250/500

    That shouldn't be a problem.

A general rule of thumb is that tube watts are double that of SS watts.
