Here's the deal, when you use the preouts,as in your case, the front left right and center, you can't use the receivers amp section for those channels also. If you have a receiver that delivers 7 channels of amplification, and you use 3 of the preouts, for an external amp, that leaves you with 4 channels of amplification in the receiver.

ok thx,,, If i get a 3 channel amp and power the LCR from it, would i still be able to power my front presence because as of now i need another amp to power either my front presence or rear backs.

You will not be able to provide external amplification for the Front presence speakers. Yamaha doesn't have dedicated pre outs.

    From the user guide:

Front channel or front presence channel output jacks

So it sounds like you will need to assign the pre-outs and run the presence speakers off the A2000.

A 3 channel amp will make the Yammy power 6 channels, a 5 channel amp and the Yammy will power 4 channels.

Why not let the receiver run the front presence speakers on it's own ? You have speaker terminals for them.
You would also have to engage the second zone from the menu, ala, turn it on.

I can let the reciever run the front presence. As long as i can do a 9.2 set up with a 3 channel amp running extra power to the LCR i'll get that one, otherwise i'll get the 5 channel amp.

My goal is to have an ext. amp running the LCR's, cause i believe the sound quality will improve, while being able to have a 9.2 system with just purchasing one amplifier.

I did come across a new parasound 5125 for 1,600, dont think i want to spend that much on an amp though unless really worth it.

Don't know if you use Audiogon, but there's a Parasound with the same specs for much less:

If you don't have an account, or you have a limited seller rating, just try and contact the guy telephonically to give him some peace of mind.

    Just an option...and good luck!!!
