Wondering if I should get a amp with the setup i am running? Would this make a huge difference. How is the amp connected to the receiver? Are the speakers connected to the the amp or receiver still?

I don't have any exp.with the emotiva. But if your reciever has pre outs you run the pre outs to the amp.Your speakers are hooked up to the amp.

If your receiver has preouts you connect an cable from the pre-outs to the amp for the channels you want run from the amp. You then connect those speakers to the amp rather than the reciever.

Will it make a difference: YES!

I noticed a big difference in music when listening to my Monitor 60's on a 125wpc 5 channel amp. I can only imagine the difference you would hear with the XPA-3 which has much more wpc than my Carver.

Your thread title doesn't seem to have anything to do with your questions.
Wondering if I should get a amp with the setup i am running?

Does your AVR have pre outs?
Would this make a huge difference.

Too subjective. What might be huge to one person may not be huge to another. Will adding an amp make a difference? Yes.
How is the amp connected to the receiver?

Thru the pre outs on the AVR.
Are the speakers connected to the the amp or receiver still?

    The amp.
