New convert - Polk Monitor 70 Series II

Am now a polkie...Got sold on the sound of the TSIs at local stores and loved the looks and the details of the sound. I got a pair of tsi 300 at first and kept it for almost a month. Liked them but felt that something was missing even though I had a sub. The lower ranges seemed to be lacking, drums doesn't seem to have that punch/authority for example. Originally liked the full sound of the tsi 500 but could not afford that and that's when I found out about the forum and members talking about monitor 70 deals at newegg.

Visited newegg and chanced a good deal on the monitor 70 series 2...Without even hearing the monitors, I immediately returned the tsi 300 and ordered a pair of the black m70's series 2.

Had them for 2 days now and just love the full sound that I am getting out of these and to think that these are even cheaper than the tsi 300, what a steal. I really liked them better without the grills but when you have kids who play ball inside the house, better protect those beautiful woofers from getting smashed.

I am trying to upgrade my receivers since I have a 12 year old JVC receiver. It can play the 70s okay but I want more out of these babies. Now if I could get the wife to say yes...

Thanks.

Welcome to CP, and congrats on your M70's! If you're looking into replacing your receiver and have a little room to splurge, you might consider going the pre-amp/power amp route. I wish I would have, but I'm working on putting together a seperate 2 channel rig to address my music needs.

Many have reported the 70's come alive with a healthy dose of clean power that most avr's can't provide...it really depends on what you use them for (home theater, music, or both). Good luck.
2 channel rig: MMF 2.2 turntable, Adcom GFP-715, Adcom GFA-555, Adcom ACE-515, Carver M-1.0t, Denon 5900 CD/SACD, SDA-SRS 2.3s (Zardoss modded), AQ Diamondback & King Cobra IC's and AQ Type 4 speaker cables

HT rig: Panny 50" G20 plasma, Directv DVR, Insignia BRD/DVD/SACD/DVD-A, Denon AVR-890, Fronts: Polk Monitor 70's, Rears: Deftech Mythos Gems, Center: Polk CS1, Sub: Polk PSW-505

Ouch! They are priced regular at 249$ at newegg.ca and occasionally go on sale for lower than that. I found Visions deals are no longer such deals anymore, I guess their store are now too popular and they don't need the effort anymore...

BTW, welcome to Club Polk boomerfss :)

    Thanks for the welcome Technokid.

When I looked at the newegg price, I believe it is $249.00 per speaker or $498.00 per pair. They were $398.00 per pair at Visions.

Thanks for the welcome. Got the pair for $179.99 each at newegg, the black ones. The cherry is right now going for $169.99 and sale ends on 11/29, a better deal but I really am going towards the all black route and I am really happy with it.....Next step is to get a better avr/pre-amp.

I use the Yamaha RX-V1900 to drive my Monitor 70's. Got the Monitors at Newegg for the $179 sale price. The Yamaha can be found for around $600 but Newegg seems to be out of stock at the moment. Amazon has one vendor at $545.
