Which one? Onkyo HT-RC160 or Denon AVR1910

I've narrowed it down to two receivers that are within my reach. The Onkyo is $150 at a local PC Richards as an open box item. The Denon can be had refurbished for $285.
I've seen both of these talked about here but if it's between the two which would you get? I want to upgrade so that I can have HDMI inputs and get some better sound than my older Denon VR507 can put out. Of course, adding two more surround channels is appealing since I have two Polk R150's just layin' around! I'm using R50's as my fronts.
Thanks in advance.

I've been off here 4 over a year & need huge
help ipcking out an av receiver & figuring out what I really need & don't need . I know the entry level ones by denon & onkyo are rated really good but, I'm not diggin the black look, though, the onkyo looks prettier, both under 200.00. Harmon kardan has a gray on black which is okay. But, I liked the silver & black better, were those the older models? I now see them on ebay refurbished from HK. I really want one of those but fear its outdated? However, If I buy a newer blue-ray, won't it offset what the older H. kardon unit lacks?? what do I really need anyway?? I'm hearing will it pass music thru hdmi? is it a repeater? what the hecks that & does it matter except in the bdrm?! I know the onky/denon will have all the latest stuff so, I guess I'm wondering if the 2-4 yr. old silver & blk. harmon kardons will have all I need. Honestly., I only watch dvds about 2-3 times a month & the picture is fine...+ a few dvd rock videos. I have a cheap doorbuster 10.00 coby dvd player & a tube tv with no cable (by choice) yes, rabbbit ears...(nothing worth watching these days) I appreciate a good picture & get plenty of hd channels that look very pretty. But, don't care if the zit on the actor's face is super visable or just visable! Can someone assist before I just buy a HTIB..LOL!

ROH, although I more frequently suggest an Onkyo model, in your case, if the added cost of the 1910 isn't crucial I'd suggest it. The main reason is that it has the superior Audyssey MultEQ version while the 160 has the simplified 2EQ. The MultEQ offers more measuring positions for greater accuracy, and maybe more important, it equalizes the sub channel, while the 2EQ doesn't.

Tina, I'd suggest that you don't worry about what colors that you're "diggin" and get an excellent receiver at a very good price, such as the Denon 1910 which ROH is considering.

Thanks, John K, I was kinda leaning towards the Denon so I feel a little better now.TV: 65" Samsung QLED 4K
