Hi, looking to buy one of these preamp/tuners. Can anyone tell me if there is any differences other than year, and which one you would get. I will be pairing it up to a Luxman M375 amp. Thank you..

is there a significant difference in cost between the 2 pre ?

They're priced about the same.

luxman made great equipment.
trying to look up the spec sheets on these
but it come down to personal preference anyway
don;t think you can go wrong. -
I have the TP114 and bluecomet has/had the 117. The 114 is a nice sounding unit, but I believe the 117 might be a dual tuner with a zone B and is the more expensive piece. I was given mine, but the 114 might be found for ~ $100, the 117 ~ $200, if you can find either. I think they sold for close to a grand or slightly higher new.

I couldn't find any specs on the 117 or 114. So I really appreciate any and all input. Thank you Ron T.

I use it as a 2 channel pre, it's extremely transparent, better than any AVR pre I've used (duh) and really likes to be paired with a Luxman M-117 or warmer amps...I'm using a Carver TFM 35 with it now.

I have both the TP 114 and the TP 117. The TP117 was way ahead of it's time. It can play two amps front and back at the same time. The tuner on it is one of the best made in that time period. You can do many things with the 117. The manual is huge. The one thing with the TP117 is that you need the Luxman remote that goes with it to operate it properly. Without it you will not be able to access some of it's capabilities. The TP114 is a very good pre amp but is not dual zone and does not have as good of a tuner built in. You can only use one amp with it. The one plus is that it will work with a generic remote. If you have the chance to buy a TP117 with remote for the same price of the TP114 then it is a no brainer to choose the TP117. Without the remote go with the TP114. Either way you will be getting a quality pre amp. With both of my Luxman pre amps I use Luxman M117 amps and really enjoy the combination. You can tell they were built for each other. I have also used Carver amps with my Luxman pre amps and they work well together also.Polk HT system 1: LSIC, LSI25 mains, LSI F/X rears, Lsi F/X rear centers,
Yamaha RX-V2500 System, Carver A753 3 channel amp.
