So Craigslist postings from the Baltimore - Washington DC area around January 2009, May 2010, and now November 2010 makes one wonder if they did not sell or if they keep turning over because they do not perform?

Probably because they are way overpriced. Buy a normal set and a can of Krylon. At least you won't have to deal with the cracked enclosure.Main Surround -
