Here's what happened. I popped in at Stephen Monte's shop, Quest for Sound today just for a visit to see what's new. Just chit chatting about audio in general then he hits me with a bombshell. He knows I already have Polk LSi/FX surrounds & I've always mentioned how much I like them. He says why don't I take his demo pair of LSi15's home for a listen. I heard them on numerous visits to his place & I also did mention how good they sounded.

One thing led to another & I took him up on his offer. He gave me a killer price if I do decide to keep them. The only sticky point is how much I enjoy those AAD monitors. The guys at this years PF also really enjoyed them. It's a speaker you don't see too often in the states. But after 4yrs maybe it's time to change things up if just for a different sound. Right now I have them cranking out & damn they sure do sound gooooooood!!! Decisions...decisions!

Lsi speakers are pretty hard to resist. It's your call really. I would keep both.

About 2 yrs ago, Fry's Electronics cleared out all LSi15 for about $300 each? I don't remember it for sure but it you get it for around or less than that, it's a deal you shouldn't miss.

You should be listening to everything possiible and make your final decision later...that's what real audio nuts do.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

I know...they are incredible sounding monitors. This will be a tough decision for sure. But I do know that one should experience different sounds to really have some fun with this hobby. Let's see what happens!

And also to be honest, I've been swaying more towards the HT venue as compared to two chanel listening. Already having the LSi/FX surrounds puts me that much closer to a full compliment of LSi speakers. The 15's are no slouch for two channel either.

Tony, that thought has crossed my mind, but I'd rather wait a year or so after they've been out to check out the demo & used market. And if I do decide to make the switch & keep the 15's the difference between the AAD's selling point & the deal on the 15's will put enough money in my pocket to pickup an Anti-Mode 8033 sub EQ unit & also allow me to do another mod on my Music Hall dac25.2. Plus down the road I would still break even selling the 15's. I'm still up in the air on this one. They do sound rather good though!

Yes. That was a few months after I bought 4 of them at Tweeter for full MSRP.

I was a little upset.
Do you hear that buzzing noise?

As good as some monitors are and your AAD's are very nice, many times they just can't convey the scale a floor standers can in a medium to large room. Keep that in the back of your mind while demo'ing the LSi's

And as Mark said, listen to everything multiple times and days and days and days and days before you decide permanently.

    Good luck Phil

Not to worry. I've had my ears on quite a variety of speakers to date. If I do make the move it will be somewhat due to the LSI's prowness in the HT arena. The AAD's are extremely well rounded for two channel listening but they do struggle a tad with HT duties in my 3K sqft room. Not that they can't pull it off, but the LSi's definetely have the edge there. And since I run a combo HT/2 channel system there will always be compromises. But I must say the LSi's handle two channel very, very well. Really no complaints there. I have them crossed over at 80Hz & that really frees them up to excel in the midrange & highs. That Vifa tweet is exceptional. I also just ordered an Anti-Mode 8033 EQ unit which will elevate my Velo's performance to really dial in the full musical spectrum. I'm still listening & taking notes. Haven't decided yet though.

:eek::eek: I never thought I see the day when you were seriously considering replacing the AADs. I've heard those 15's at Stephens with you and when Phyllisann I and went and they did sound goooooooood!!!

Take Brock's & Doro's advice it is excellent.
