Hello guys,

i have an opportunity to get either of this receivers. I will use them mainli for two channel music.

The nad new in box (local dealer) i can get for 250
the hk 3390 i can get for 315

i live in the dominican republic and neither is hooked to any speakers

i have read that the nad runs 70 wps when using in two channel.

I own rtia7 inf the front, but will be getting probably a nice pair of bookshelf for this rig, since it is destined for my bedroom. (probably swans or something like that) althought i am dying to listen to some lsi7.

Regards,

eduardo

As you mention above, in a way the receivers are not comparable. The NAD is a surround AVR. The HK is a simple two channel stereo receiver.

You should try to listen to both. Having said that. I have listened to an HK 3490 and a NAD C325 and IMHO, the NAD seems to be both more powerful (or at least a weightier sound) and have a bit better audio resolution, though the HK is not bad at all. I am not familiar with the 743 but it seems to have amp sections similar to the 325 (two channel).

Good Luck! But do listen. The two do have a slightly different sound.

I have the NAD T763 and I can say that, without a doubt, it made the most difference in the quality of sound I had in my system. Plus, it has pre-outs and this allowed me to buy a 2 channel amp to power my mains, which led to further improvements. Plus, their customer support is top notch. Any questions you have can be well answered by Bob Moran and NAD customer support (1-800-263-4641, ext. 4342).
