Got me a damn nice TV at least I think so. It's an LG SL90 LED 42" love it. It's a really awesome TV. I've got a problem with it and I've done research on this but I thought I'd ask my fellow Polkies also. When linked in with my PS3 via HDMI I get flickers of snow and sometimes black screen. I've went online and I'm seeing similar problems with the PS3 and the LG TV's. Does anybody else have this problem, have heard it or at the very least know how to fix it? I've been told to switch down to component cables but isn't HDMI the superior picture quality?

Spit ballin' here, but maybe a firmware upgrade for the PS3? Maybe try a different HDMI cable? Blue Jeans cable has a very nice HDMI cable--cheap.

Thats an hdmi handshake issue. Check for firmware or your cable.

Yeah I would check the cable as well. I haven't seen anything like that on my LG TV w/ the PS3 ..but then again I have the PS3 connected to the receiver. Is that model internet connected? If so, you can see if there any TV firmware updates...mine has updated 2 or 3 times since I bought in May.

Well I might trade it in for a Samsung 46" LCD. Which do you think I should keep? I can't hook my PS3 to internet. Can I put that firmware upgrade on a zip drive and download it on the PS3 from the zip?

I do think a nice HDMI cable would help along with a firm ware update. But switching to component cables doesn't really mean a loss of HD as you can have 1080i via component.

Josh - yeah I think you can download the firmware update and install it off of an external drive...I think this is the link:

I'd try what PrazVT gave you, and a new cable as well as going thru your new tv's manual thoroughly, if all that fails, just call LG CS. Personally, I'd get a plasma, but that's a different thread for a different time ;) . Best of Luck.

I've had an LG Tech out and install a new HDMI board - same thing. He called LG CS and they said the exact same thing - a handshake issue, that was their words. He was the one recommend I take my TV back and get a Samsung LCD with the 120hz and 1080p full HD and the works. So thats what I'm gonna do plus he said when the extended warranty runs out Samsung's are easier and cheaper to work on. My buddy has the Plasma I'd like to get one of them but I'm leaving right now and I'm gonna see what all they have. Thanx everybody!!! Post back after while :)

Sorry to hear you had to deal with that. I have a Samsung 550 46" 1080p, and a 6000 46" 1080p LED as well.. both are awesome.

hdmi can be a tricky and notoriously fragile thing. I had the same problem and it was between my pre pro and cable. swapped the cable and my new oppo is going hdmi right into the TV and thankfully no issue thus far, but also have it hooked up via component just in case.

Got my Samsung in today. This is one nice TV, is all I can say. Not one problem with the PS3 so I'm good to go now. Finally am happy with my TV situation! I guess next thing on my list as far as Home Theater goes is....home theater lol. That has to be a while down the road though I got too much other crap going on right now but at least now when I come home from work I got one hell of a TV to watch!
