Harman Kardon 354 set-up mic

I bought my HK AVR354 as a floor model for a great price, but unfortunately, they didn't have the set-up mic. Now that my FXiA6's are in, I'm really eager to see if the calibration will yield any improvements. Does anyone have a EZset/EQ mic for the 354 that I could possibly borrow? I think that its pretty universal for the newer HK AVR's. I promise to treat it like my own, and of course I'll pay for shipping and a rental fee. Thanks in advance,
Dominic

I have one from an AVR247 you can borrow. Let me know your mailing address and I'll send it out.

Thanks again to CTTE, I got the setup mic and ran the calibration on my rig the other day. The results were interesting. My AVR set the fronts to Large, the center at 150 HZ, the sub to present and the surrounds at 40 HZ. It also set the sub at -5 with everything else about equal. I'm just curious why it would set the mains to Large and then turn the sub level down. The center being crossed at 150 hz doesn't make sense either . . does anyone have any insight on this? I watched 2012 last night and had to turn the sub back up to get some decent bass.Home TheaterRTiA5 - CSiA6 - FXiA6 - PSW650 - Pioneer Elite SC-55 - Carver AV-505 - Sony 46" 120Hz - Monster HP 2400 - Xbox 360 - Playstation 32 ChannelPolk RTA 15TL - Harman Kardon HK3485 - HK DVD48 - Signal Cable IC's and speaker cables

I also have a HK AVR354. I didn't do much to the sub after the setup, cause mine frankly isn't all that great. I did have to bump the center channel up a few notches. I think the settings are really very good suggestions, but feel free to tweak where you think necessary, and enjoy.

For me, the mic calibration did a good job at getting the settings close. I had to bump the crossover setting down on the center channel. Male voices sounded thin at the calibrated setting.

I plan on tinkering with it, it just strikes me as strange that the center, which is essentially the same speaker as the mains, would get 150hz while the mains are set to full range. I'm definitely going to adjust the center X/O. Thanks for the advice guys . .Home TheaterRTiA5 - CSiA6 - FXiA6 - PSW650 - Pioneer Elite SC-55 - Carver AV-505 - Sony 46" 120Hz - Monster HP 2400 - Xbox 360 - Playstation 32 ChannelPolk RTA 15TL - Harman Kardon HK3485 - HK DVD48 - Signal Cable IC's and speaker cables

These auto-calibration settings are designed to objectively level match all the different channels, and flatten the frequency response across the sound-stage. I don't have any experience with EZset, but with Audyssy, I usually find that some subjective fine tuning post auto-calibration is necessary. For instance, most of us have an appetite for bass that from a purely DB standpoint, is much louder than the mains. Our ears are less sensitive to low frequencies.....80db at 30hz 'sounds' much softer to my ears than 80db at 200hz.
The setting of the cross-overs by audyssey is usually less than ideal too, as it has a habit of crossing my mains and center over at frequencies below the -3db roll-off point. Of course this points to different room effects coming into play (particularly boundary gain in the lower frequencies), but the whole point of these auto-calibration systems is to normalize room effects. That isn't to say there aren't flaws though! My System Showcase!

The mic will give a starting point, or better yet a RadioShack sound level meter (I like their analog meter version (w/real meter) . From there your calibrated ear is really your best and must subjective friend.SDA SRS 1.2
