I've heard good things about them, but never heard one. The 38 wpc is correct.

Produced in China but seem to be regarded as good bang for the buck gear.
I think some members here have or have had them, so maybe you will get some better 1st hand info.

Not sure about repair work. Research the following.
    Perpetual Technologies
    Audio Alchemy
    AV123

I've owned one for about 2 years now, I dig it and dont see getting rid of it for a long while. Its a beastly little amp, I use it in my office rig powering a set of 6' Acoustat stats.

Ive read somewhere once or twice that people believe it has a solid state sound, but I think its the stock tubes that come with it, they're nothing special. Ive gone through alot of tubes to find the perfect sound for me, and Ive got it dialed in well.

Ive used it on a bunch of different speakers and its not let me down or disapointed on any of them. It is designed and built by an Australian company named Melody, it was rebadged as an Onix for AV123 here in the states. There are two version's, but the only difference I'm aware of are the bias value's. Its easy to bias, and holds it well.

The AV123 forums had tons of information, but has since been brought down with the fall of the company. I would never recommend AV123 to anyone as a company, but would stand behind the SP3 as a product.
