I can buy one locally at his home off a craigslist ad for $150. He can't easily show me it pushing any speakers, just can plug it in and let me hear it click on and light up. Gamble or move on?

Hey Tony, he just emailed back. I can hear it pushing a pair of Klipsh speakers. $150 is good for some vintage yamaha right?

The M-45 is lowest on the Yamaha totem pole, besides perhaps the M-40 if I remember correctly. The models ending in "5" are the newer series of them, with the lights and everything, so these are certainly more desirable, I actually had a crack at one for around the same price locally about a year ago but I passed. Unless he can go cheaper you probably won't get everything back out of it; if it were one of the higher model numbers it would be better (M-75 or similar) as they have more power.Current System:
Paradigm Signature S2 v2
Conrad Johnson MF2500
Wyred4Sound DAC2
Audioquest Black Mamba II

In the late 1980's, I used to own the M-45 and it was ok. Clean sounding. 150.00 ain't bad, but are you POSITIVE there are no issues? That would be my only concern.
