I recently asked for advice on this and got reassuring advice here.

Recently bought a denon avr3300 rec. with no remote.and none available from denon.

Before we head to atlanta tomorrow for my wifes oncologist follow up, i have to ask again, i mean damn, over a hundred bucks for a remote.

The harmony line of remotes claim my denon receiver is on their list of gear that can be controlled.

The first set of buyer reviews had glowing words from almost all, then a guy who said flat out they listsome equipment as compatible when its not.

For that reason i might pay the premium for a new, as opposed to new from someone on cl, so if need be i can return it.

anyone who has experience with one of these aftermarket remotes really being customized to set up and control a receiver the same way the original remote would have, please let me know if they are worth it.

by the way im sold on their convenience and simplification over multiple remotes. but im really looking at how deep into receiver i can get.

If you buy it from someone on CL, and it doesn't work for your receiver, just resell it on CL.

I use a harmony for my hK254. I am able to do everything that I could with the normal remote. You may have to tweak the setup some and try out a few different options but I think you will be very pleased.

I was telling a friend the other day that my harmony is probably the best investment I have made in my rig.

    Rear - RTiA3's
    Center - CSiA4
    Sub - PSW110

Harmony Remotes are Great- however... Some people just don't like the setup. It all comes down to personal preference. There is a learning curve w the software, but the basics are straight forward. Biggest mistake i see people do is rush through the setup and get frustrated.

I have a more basic Harmony 550, does everything that i need. Only complaint i have is it can be somewhat laggy when powering things on, but alot of that is dependent on how quick the component can process the IR signal (also you can adjust the delay is commands during a macro to the milisecond.)

Are Harmony Remotes worth it? Absolutely- if your devices are supported. Do a little googling, hell e-mail Logitech with questions. Only thing my low model Harmony won't do that bugs me is control my Projector (Sony 1252q). Otherwise with full button remapping it will do anything else i need it to.

Take advantage of the return policy at places like Best Buy, basically 30 free trial, lol.

My basic harmony runs everything in my rig, including my twenty year old Carver CDP and Pioneer laserdisc. All functions are there and represented under their individual locations on the remote. The cool thing is that if you need to control multiple devices for a single task, this remote will configure itself for just that. The are simply awesome and no rig, especially HT, is complete without one.

Hey man prayers are me and my families way to communicate with the Lord and keep the channel open, God knows they work and he's kept us relatively sane though these tough times and I can tell you a miracle has occurred to get us back in the black in the next month. I hope and pray you and your angel are enjoying her life.
