Humming from speaker

I just recently borrowed up a audio-source 5.3 mono-block amp for my center speaker. Now I notice slight humming from the center speaker.Plus i am looking into buying an amp soon and don't want this problem.
After some Google searches,I came up with it being from my cable box. When disconnecting the cable from the box,the humming stopped. Also we just got comcast/xfinity with some HDTV channels a few days ago.
Now while i was searching for the problem online, some people were suggesting a ground isolator which the cable line connects into and then to the box,but i also read that it might interfere with HDTV signals which i am trying to avoid.Has anyone had this problem and can recommend me a good brand isolator?

Most the time you get some humming noise from these cable boxes and sat boxes. I had the same problem that you have now, I got a power conditioner from monster power. and the buzz went away. you can try using another outlet too. you will not interfere with HDTV signal. Most the time the problem is in the power line. just my two cents!Make it simple...Make it better! -
Also having the AC cord or Coaxial cable lines from the cable box running alongside your gear lines (AC and IC's) will increase that issue. Isolate cables the best you can.

Yeah I will look into a power conditioner this weekend. Also having the AC cord or Coaxial cable lines from the cable box running alongside your gear lines (AC and IC's) will increase that issue. Isolate cables the best you can.

Will do and see if that helps. Also I wonder if aftermarket power cords do help and reduce humming, any thoughts?
thanks

Sorry but, I wouldn't advise starting a relationship on this forum by confronting a member with one of the highest post counts on this site....take a breath, then type....yes, maybe he didn't come off properly....but, he doesn't have to.....sorry, that's just the way it is. And I think that's the way he looks at things. He told me (on one of my first few posts) that the speakers I was going to put some effort into weren't worth 10cents..and you know....I bit my tongue (wanted to say something, but didn't), and everything worked out alright (and I have started making great freinds on this site since then)! I'm glad I did (and don't tell him this....but he was right - after talking to the manufacturer on multiple emails).....there are alot of good people on here, F1 is one of 'em (he has been very helpful on many other posts of mine).....my 2 cents!
Take a breath....is all I'm sayin'

yeah I took a week break once from logging on here after I saw a post from someone with thousands of post telling the poster " do I need to draw picture" criticizing his setup. If someone wants to offer good advice fine, or offer their constructive opinion fine. The rest can pound sand.System:

I too had a hum problem, which was caused by my satellite. If the cable from the dish to the satellite receiver was connected, I'd get the hum you described. Did not matter if the sat box was plugged in or not. If there was any connection to the tv, or the preamp you would hear the hum through the speakers. Of course the amp had to be on to hear it. I tried everything I could think of, as well as suggestions by friends with no luck. Finally, I had Direct TV come out and the tech. was here for 4 hours trying to rid my system of it. He finally changed the lead in coax and that took care of the problem. Good luck with your problem. Hope you can get it figured out. You apparently can use some sort of isolator with cable, but with satellite you can't.Sunfire Theater Grand IV
