I have an old Luxman cd player that I recently purchased. The cd tray won't open. Does anyone know how I can fix it. I can send it back to the place I bought it but I was wondering if there could be an easy fix. Thanks.

I have seen some CDP's with a locking mechanism in order to protect the drawer during shipping. Does it say anything in the owner's manual? The one I've seen was a screw hole underneath the cabinet that you had to twist.
Good luck...

The above suggestion sounds like a good one. Never seen a Luxman CD player though, so I don't know if they have a laser locking screw or not. A few of my Denon's do though.
My AMC CD player had a problem with the drawer not opening due to the CD spindle not dropping down enough to allow the drawer to open. I had to open it up and lubricate the gears, etc. to get it to work correctly. Now it works fine though.
Did it come with a warranty?

It came with a warranty. I will look to see if there are any locking screws.Polk HT system 1: LSIC, LSI25 mains, LSI F/X rears, Lsi F/X rear centers,

I would suggest removing the top and seeing what happens when you hit "eject". You might have slipped a band or the mechanism went bad. ALWAYS pop the top and see what's going on. I'm betting you're WAY out of warranty....factory warranty?
The locking mechanism should be painfully obvious if you turn it over. It will look like a flat faced, plastic "key" most likely.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint. -
If it is under warranty, I would find out if it will void it if you open it up though. If it's not a locking screw/mechanism then I would double check about opening it up and the effects on the warranty.

Some CD players have a mechanism like all CD-ROM drives in computers.
Check on the front face for a tiny hole. If there is one, take an unrolled paper clip and push it into the hole. If the hole is there, that means the cd tray is spring-loaded and it will pop out."Dr Dunn admitted that his research could also be interpreted as evidence that women are shallower than men. It most likely is it needs a new belt to open the tray. Open it up and see if the belt has slipped or is missing/broken. Some are easy to replace others are very difficult. I would suggest taking it to someone who is good at fixing audio equipment.Sunfire TGP, Sunfire Cinema Grand, Sunfire 300~2 (2), Sunfire True Sub (2),Carver ALS Platinum, Carver AL III, TFM-55, C-19, C-9, TX-8, SDA-490t, SDA-390t
