With rated efficiency >80% then they must be Class D.Most likely ICE modules sourced from B&O like their other models.

Yes, I believe they're also ICE powered. Excellent sounding amps, I have two and may be picking up a 3rd soon. Only negative, they're not common ground and will need an A1-A isolation transformer to work with P/B SDA's.

In that case, he may as well save some money and get an Emo, they're made by the same people.

If it ain't signed by Bob, it ain't a Sunfire! I don't know who builds them now that Mr. Carver is no longer in charge. I just know that EMO and Sunfire share nothing in common. Carver Digital on the other hand...

I have a D-Sonic IceAmp and love it. Most of the B&O ICE modules are identical with only the chasis being different. Some makers may add small differences here and there but the modules remain the same. Dennis is a great guy to work with and they even customize the amp as you like.

W4S adds a few tweaks to the ICE modules and an input buffer.

could you still strap the negatives together or would that not work? probably a stupid question but I had to ask :o

It's not a stupid question at all. I would contact EJ at Wyred4Sound and ask him, he's usually pretty quick to respond. http://www.wyred4sound.com/contact.html

I have been seriously looking at getting the STI 500. I am wondering if these amps are warm, bright, mostly neutral?

I'm running a STI-500 in one of my rigs and I would say it's very neutral.

Hey face. What have you compared the sti500 to? This will be my first integrated but I'm a little worried that it might not work great with my newly aquired Monitor Audio GS60's which tend to be a little on the bright side.

Ah, a McIntosh MC-7270, MC-126, Pass Aleph 5, Aleph 2(?) monos, Ayon Crossfire, couple of misc. chip amps, Manley Stingray, Peachtree Nova, and possibly more.

IMO, Wyred gear is very neutral, it doesn't add or take anything away. What are you using now and what do you have for a source?

My source is my oppo bdp83 Nuforce. Arcam av9 pre/pro. Arcam amp. The Arcam stuff is known to match very well with Monitor Audio GS as they are a shade bright and the Arcam is warm. Not sure what characteristic the oppo is throwing into the equation. The STI500 gets rave reviews but it would be a shame if it could not tame the brightness of the GS60

I know the ASP series of ICE modules have differential outputs so you shouldn't strap the grounds.

If your system is still bright with Arcam gear, I'd look into room treatments, different cables, or go speaker shopping again.

I don't have the speakers yet they are on their way to me. I guess I might be jumping the gun a little. I was just window shopping for a good integrated and had this one on my short list.
