I just bought a Pioneer Elite BDP-23FD and I am not able to find where I can upconvert and output dvd's to 1080p/24. It gives me the option of choosing "720p" "1080i" "1080p/60" "Source Direct" and with some dvd's it will output it to 1080p/50. I thought that the Pioneer's were able to upconvert and output 480i dvd's to 1080p/24?
I have it hooked up to a Pioneer Elite Kuro PRO-151FD plasma and it's said it can take a 1080i source and upconvert it to 1080p/72 in it's Film Mode option.

Looking at the manual (pg. 23), it looks like if you choose Source Direct and you're playing 1080p/24 source material (ie. blu-ray or avchd), you'll get 1080p/24 playback. Otherwise, I don't see 1080p/24 as a selectable output format for hdmi / component in the list the manual provides.
I know my Denon receiver can upconvert anything to 1080p/24, but unless I turn motion compensation to high on my LG LED TV, it's a bit jittery. Native 1080p/24 content works fine though.
So I dunno if trying to do that is a great idea in the first place.Dali Optikon 1Mk2
