Tonight my tweeters started huming.
Turn the volume down and it is still there just not as loud.
It is very noticable in the music.Does it with CD's and FM.Have I blown my tweeters? Or is something worse like the receiver?:(

Possible ground loop issue. Do you have a cable box hooked up to your rig?

Ok, do you have or can you borrow either another pair of speakers or another receiver?

Are you sure that hum hasn't been there the entire time? I've not yet heard a setup that didn't have a slight hum to it. Be it a $400 budget stereo or a $15,000 Mac setup. I usually find that a running air conditioner will mask both the hum and nuances. Likewise, I've ran into some cheap int.amps that have a very audible hum at any volume.

Now then, are you sure you aren't just tricking yourself into hearing a hum or buzz when you're listening at volume? Try changing a few things around and see if the issue exists.

Have you added any new electronics of ANY type in your home?
Changed around electronics to different locations?
I have a DeWalt cordless drill that when I charge a battery I get a hum from my speakers. It doesn't matter where in my home or on what circuit it's on. It's still going to give me a hum ONLY when I charge a battery.
I found it by accident one day. I was listening to my stereo on low volume on a dead quiet day. As soon as I dropped the battery into the charger the hum appeared and I pulled the battery and the hum disappeared. I'd fought that intermittant hum for a couple of weeks before I found it. I changed out everything to get rid of the hum. Nothing worked. Freak charger thing.
I have a totally dead quiet system. NO noise at all even with high efficiency horn and full range drivers.

I do have another receiver that I can dig outta the attic to try. Thanks for reminding me.

I'm positive this hum/static hasn't been there the whole time. It's audible enough that you would have picked up on it as soon as you walked into the room.

I don't think anything new has been plugged in.I would have to double check with the warden on this one.

Ok, I think there is some confusion here. A hum is not normal in any audio system, period. A slight bit of hiss from the tweeters can be normal. It is important to use the proper terms when discussing audio.
