First Time Surround Setup
Hi all,
I'm putting together my first speaker setup mainly for watching movies. After a bit of research and listening at local shops here's what I'm thinking. I would love some feedback.
This is for a 7.1 system. The room is about 15 feet wide and 35 feet long. However, the middle speaker wires are setup at about 10-12 feet and the rears are setup to be at about 20 feet. Leaving about 15 feet of open space behind the rears.
Two fronts: Rti A3
Sides: Fxi A6
Rears: Fxi A6 (however some people have told me to go with a more direct sounding speaker such as a couple more Rti A3).
Centre: Csi A6
Sub: DSW Pro 500 or 600.
Opinions?
Thank you.

Welcome to Club Polk! Looks like you're on the right track. I think that will be a very nice sounding system. Two things off the top of my head:
I think a pair of RTiA3 or RTiA1 would be fine for the back, but it's also more a matter of taste. There's not often much "information"/sounds in the back channels, so either way would probably be fine. I prefer the bipole/dipole speakers on the sides, with bookshelves in the back, while others reverse this. Some do FXi for both, while others do bookshelves all the way around.
You may want to consider a little more sub, as a single DSW might tend to get lost in all that space. (Even though you're just using a portion of the room, your sub should be able to "pressurize" the entire room in order to have maximum impact.
Just my two cents... Enjoy!
And don't be afraid to ask more questions - lots of help here! -
Thanks mdaudioguy. To tell you the truth, I've been wavering on whether to go with the Fx for the back or another pair of RtiA.
For your suggestion for the sub....would getting 2 subs do the trick (I haven't bought a receiver yet so I could start looking for a receiver that accomodates 7.2) or are there single subs out there that would do what your suggesting?
Thanks again for your feedback.Home Theatre
