Look into panasonic. I got a combo player for my son, and it playes almost every disk I can put in it. Quality is very good for the price point.

    Good luck

thanx for pointing out the panasonics but ny question was more likeis there a difference between a 200.00 and a 500.00 and whats the deal with the 1900.00 ones, i know they are superior but how and are they worth the dough dollar for dollar. Or are they like the cable issue upgrade if you can afford it. I know there is a middle ground with this forums help I hope to find it. thanx:D

Denon DVD-2900 - It's the one on my list... Dealtime prices range from $750 to $999.

On the $$$ panny's, the video and audio might be slightly better but not to warrant the super increase in price. Also, unless you have super video equipment...you will really not notice the difference anyway. I had the Panasonic RP-91N which was an awesome unit and for $299 closeout now (crutchfield.com), it's a sure winner. It's gotten great reviews by users as well as videophile reviewers online and in mags. Good luck :)

Looking at the upclose and personal photo, it occurs that the thing I don't like about Denon is those dot matrix displays. I think that everything has LCD type that I have now, which IMO looks much more sleek.........
