Trying to choose a receiver

I am looking into a receiver for my set up. I am looking for something that will be the best for what I got and possibly for a future upgrade. I have heard great things about pioneer so I am leaning that way right now. My knowledge about speakers and such is limited, so I am trusting you guys will point me in the right direction. My speakers are TSi300's for my fronts, CS20 for the center, PSW110 for the sub, and TSi100's for the surrounds.
Thanks!
Thanks!

I don't know your budget so I'm going to recommend what I consider the best, NAD! You can get a great one used for under $1K.

+1 for NAD. I´m more than happy with my T747, and I´m using TSi300 and TSi100 as well. Maybe you can get a T765 or even a T755 if only plan to use 5.1
Just make sure you get an AVR with preouts, I did the mistake of getting one without pre outputs and regretted it later but fortunately now I have my NAD! -
i have a Denon 2311ci. i just got it less than a week ago. i just want more.mole'

The new '11 series Denons are quite appealing. Though I'd make the jump to the 3311 for Network connectivity and preouts. Plus it has a 3-yr warranty!

I am a huge fan of Pioneer Elite. Came over to Pioneer Elite from the Onkyo camp, and I'm never looking back..........

For me its Pioneer Elite, Harman Kardon or the higher end Onkyo's. I would love to get my ears on Nad or some Sunfire seperates though. What I really want is a pioneer elite. Like I said, I really don't know too much about this stuff. All I know I want it to sound great. Right now I have an onkyo tx-sr707. Not really satisfied. Thats why I am looking for something better. But, I don't really want to spend over $1000. I see you guys recommending the SC series of the Elites. What do you think of the VSX series? -

I have an older VSX-49TXi Pioneer Elite reciever and I would not part with it. It is older and does not have HDMI but aside from that it is a fine reciever. I bought it used and it was in like new condition. Don't be afraid to look at the used market. There are some great VSX series out there.
I'm not sure whether your in Canada orthe US but here is an example of a great reciever that can be purchased used;

I am going to recommend that you purchase a seperate amp instead of a new receiver.
What exactly does a separate amp do to make the the sound quality better. I see people talk about this all the time. I just never understood the process. -
Also, could you show me some examples of some decent amps that would suit me.

I agree with Rick88.
I got an Emotiva XPA-5 200wpc 5 channel amp and using an Onkyo 807 as a pre-pro. Very pleased with the extra headroom. Listener fatigue is no longer a problem, either. Smoother, more dynamics, faster transients, and more volume! It works very well with my RTI A7'sFronts: Polk RTi A7's

It gives your speakers clean steady power. Typically AVRs don't have the juice to give the greatest sound quality. There are some exceptions of course. Some AVRs have ample power but its a rare thingHT and Music Rig
