I see this amp on audiogon and was curious what the general opinion was. I know that the HK's watt rating is a little different that most. My only concerns is that that seller states,

"The amp works perfectly, I just had a new transformer put in about 3 months ago. You will here a slight buzz for 1 second (or less) when the amp is turned on, then quiet. This is normal for this amp."

What does everybody else think? Worth $100?

I think it is easily worth $100. A quick search on this amp yielded this post.

For $100 bones it is a giveaway.

Separates are (almost) always better. I'd say go for it. At that price, if you don't like it you could pretty easily recoup your investment.

So the buzz when it is powered on should not be a concern? Just curious. I will attempt to talk the wife into it this evening. Not sure how that will go over since i just purchased a blu ray player the other day.

Some amps will have a turn on thump or buzz. It's used, you take your chances. I am not sure if that is common with the HK PA 5800. You may need to ask around.

It's most likely transformer hum with the initial inrush of current. I wouldn't be concerned.
