Hi All:
I new new to the whole home theater thing. I purchased an onyko tsxr 608 receiver.
Due to logistical limitations, at least for now my home theater setup consists of two front speakers (in-wall), a center channel and subwoofer. Can anybody tell me what is the difference between dolby prologic and DTS. Those seem to be the only modes I have when watching a movie.
With the receiver there are different listening mode choices such as plII, plIIx, mono, theater dimensional, neo 6 cinema DTS. Can anybody with an Onyko please explain what are the differences between these modes as well?
This is so confusing. Please help!

Just go into your receiver's GUI and in the speaker setup menu, select where you have speakers. From there, allow it to automatically select a mode based on the content.
At this point, I would probably just run everything in stereo mode anyway. Not really a "theater" without rears. -
The manual for your Onkyo has descriptions of all of these modes. So... as with all things, RTFM.Equipment list:
Onkyo TX-NR3010 9.2 AVR
Emotiva XPA-3 amp
Polk RTi70 mains, CSi40 center, RTi38 surrounds, RTi28 rears and heights
SVS 20-39CS+ subwoofer powered by Crown XLS1500
Oppo BDP-93 Blu-ray player
DarbeeVision DVP5000 video processor
Epson 8500UB 1080p projector
