Yamaha 765 Bi-amping (yes another thread...)

I've been playing with my Yamaha 765, and finally got around to hooking my Sony stereo power amp for my TSI-500s. In this playing I stumbled across something I wasn't expecting..

Even though the pre amp outs are going to the Sony, the speaker level outs on the AVR are still active. I had assumed it would do an either/or configuration, not both.

So the reoccurring bi-amping issue crept back into my mind. I have heard and agree with the stance of BA off of an AVR as being a waste of time due to the shared power supply. My thought was to run the AVR to power the tweets (95w rms) and the Sony for the mids (135w rms). I do not, however, know if there would be an issue of signal delay and how that might affect anything,

I plan on giving it a shot in the next week or so just to test, I just don't have the speaker wire laying around, will have to pick some up. Any thoughts, words of encouragements or shameful scolding?

The gain levels between the power units need to be matched or it will not work properly. On your set up, I'd say the chances of matching gain levels are slim to none and slim is out of town.

Word. Thought I'd ask. I figure for my room size, the Sony on my mains sould be sufficient. Room is only 12'x15' anyway... just bouncing ideas in my head.

    Thanks for the replies.
