Just wondering if even or how big the difference is using the analog outs on your bdp is when listening to a true hd source

If its just the same then I dont see a reason to buy myself an avr that I wont be using for amplification. I use a projector and have no desire to upscale sources

Using the analog outs on your BDP - your BDP is doing the decoding and D/A conversion. Most inexpensive BDP's (*caveat* not all) have less than desirable DACs.
A pre/pro or AVR usually does a better job of those tasks.

Also, I know of no one at all using their pre/pro or AVR to upscale. My player does that and many panels even do a better job than the avg. AVR.

Tried it and liked hdmi over analog. My best results are hdmi and having the receiver doing the decoding.

Yeah, I have an awesome BDP and I still bitstream the codecs to my AVR.

Hmm, BluRay suggests that you decode from your transport, all I can say is my player the sound is great, of course my pre/pro doesn't process 1.3, but I can't imagine an AVR with all the other things it does, is also going to have better conversion than a dedicated transport. A really good transport is about half or less than most your quality AVR's out there. Now your going to tell me that it has a better and more expensive chip set than a dedicated transport, plus for the same price have an exceptional amp and pre amp section? Not buying it.
