Carver Amazing Silvers ALS + TFM-35 amp + C-20v preamp packed in original boxes and includes manuals. Pretty meticulously maintained from the sounds of it.

With the exception for occasional cutout on the preamp, everything is perfectly functional.

Let's just say I could almost break even on these if I sold my 1Cs. How quickly should I run?

(For those following my other thread, I'd make an excuse to listen to music in the basement so I had the space for these)

You could expect to pay between $800-$1800 for that setup, depending on condition. The cutting out is troubling...but COULD be as simple as a bad I/C. The C-20V is not the most desirable Carver preamp out there. I don't know that I would sell SDAs for Silver Amazings...

Personally, I'd pass on all but the Silver Amazings--$400-$900 on average, again, depending on condition. If they have been abused in any way, repair of the ribbons can be prohibitively expensive (@$400 each). Audition them with female voice & dynamic piano music--listening for any buzzing or crackling. Inspect for any damage to ribbons and woofer surround deterioration.

I would run quickly and follow the Rabbit's advice. The TFM-35 is a good amp that runs in the $400.00 range all day long.

I have a TFM-35x and it's a very solid amp! Those are also well thought of speakers! Good luck!

    Well guys,
Ended up picking up a set of Carver stuff on Saturday. I had a feeling I might not be able to let go of 'em. They sound incredible, but sales are slow-coming at work and this was more an "investment" purchase than anything else.

So I got a pair of Carver Amazing Silvers in Oak, all original boxes and packaging. I don't know how one would transport these WITHOUT the boxes... The seller "threw in" the TFM-35 amp (even the lamps work!) C-20V pre-amp (with issues as stated above) and the TX-8R tuner. Components all came with their boxes/styrofoam, manuals, remote, etc. Pretty impressive! He still has a Carver tube CD player that he couldn't part with.

Pics to come, but the components are already up on Audiogon.
