I've been following this thread and thought it was time for me to step in. I have a HK 254. It has HDMI for my 360, Cable and the BluRay player. It is supported by a B&K 7250 5 channel amp driving a 5.1 DefTech speaker system. I think the 254 excedes the quality of my B&K Ref 30.

I've never tasked it with two channel chores since I have a dedicated two channel system but I'm very happy with the role it plays in my HT.

I've been following the Emo UMC1 goat rope and would highly recommend the HK 254 without reservation for a HT. I would buy another one of these for my HT!

    Nice choice Ed!

I'm not exactly an HDMI know-it-all, so what would the issues actually be?

Well, this probably says it all: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hdmi#Versions

My hunch is, you'll probably be fine. Version 1.1 supports 1080p and 7.1..., beyond that everything else is gibberish to me. :o
