In-Wall Living room surround sound...help with center channel please
Sorry for the question on my first post
I have already purchased RC85i's and RC65i's for front and rear but and now stuck on the center channel. Has anyone installed the new LCi-C? I would really like to stay inwall but should I just shelf mount a Csi3 under the plasma? Any advice and/or pictures would be very helpful. The esthetics are paramount. 95% movie and 5% music so the center channel will be the most important speaker. So far here is the plan
2- RC85i
2- RC65i
1- center channel to be determined
1- SVS PB12 plus - perhaps overkill...but I want one REAL bad
It is a large 20x18 room that opens in the the kitchen/breakfast area. Floors are hardwood and the ceiling is vaulted...so I understand the sound will not be the best but I'd like it to look and sound as good as my humble budget can afford. Thanks guys

Welcome to the forum, Just get another pair of 85 or 65 for center. What amp/avr you using? Do you have capability for 6.1 or 7.1? From room size you described it shouldnt be a problem for 6.1/7.1

Thansk for the welcome
So use 2 speakers for the center channel? I currently have an older Sony ES reciever buy am looking for something new. I like the Yamaha RX-V's so maybe one of those not sure which one though. Thanks for the advice...6.1 woud be great...I could just buy 2 more pair of 85s and run those all the way around...hmmm. Thanks
please let me know what you think of your 85s when you get them installed...I have about 3 more months to wait until the house is finished.

You could use 1 for the center and 1 for the back (6.1). I dont know about Yamaha, never had them. You might want to check out Deneon as well as HK. Our room sizes are pretty close in dimension, same vaulted ceilings etc and open to same ares. Ours should be finished same time frame also. Are you planning ahead and thinking about enclosures for the speaks? It will hekp the sound allot. Just simple framing to and bottom of where the speaks will go and use some kind of padding directly behind each speaker. Hope this helps.

I'll be using RC85i's all around (thanks to Defiant who gave me his extra;) ). Just use another RC85i for the center and if you go 6.1 use the other one for the rear, or sell the extra one. There's a store on Ebay selling them for around $175 a pair shipped. Or you can get a CS1 or CS2 and not use an in-wall for the center and still be somewhat timbre matched.2 channel - Willsenton R8 tube integrated, Holo Audio Spring 3 KTE DAC, audio optimized NUC7i5, Windows 10 Pro/JRiver MC29/Fidelizer Plus 8.7 w/LPS and external SSD drive, PS Audio PerfectWave P3 regenerator, KEF R3 speakers, Rythmik F12SE subwoofer, Audioquest Diamond USB cable, Gabriel Gold IC's, Morrow Audio SP5 speaker cables. Yes I am planning on framing top and bottom and using sound deadener behind. Is that what your doing? I just ordered 500' of speaker wire...are you also doing the pre-construction brackets? I can't wait to get the ball rollin on this stuff. I'm gonna go ahead and order more 85s and just take them all the way around for 6.1. Thanks guys -
No Im not doing the brackets, no real need to @ $50 a bracket. I will have access to everything when the time comes to cut holes. Im going to do the insulating as well. I bought 250' of wire and only used appx 220' of it. Just remember not to run your speaker wire with power wires thru out the runs.

How are you guys going to run the wire into the wall from the AVR? Are you using a wall plate and, if so, which kind?2 channel - Willsenton R8 tube integrated, Holo Audio Spring 3 KTE DAC, audio optimized NUC7i5, Windows 10 Pro/JRiver MC29/Fidelizer Plus 8.7 w/LPS and external SSD drive, PS Audio PerfectWave P3 regenerator, KEF R3 speakers, Rythmik F12SE subwoofer, Audioquest Diamond USB cable, Gabriel Gold IC's, Morrow Audio SP5 speaker cables. I'm coming out of a closet to everything so I'm just gonna use one of these

...but there are several places that sell 5.1 and 7.1 wall plates like these

I'll be wiring in 3-4 weeks...I'll take pics

Thanks....I was thinking about something like in the first link. I don't think I want the binding post type. I'll just run the wire straight from the AVR to the speakers.2 channel - Willsenton R8 tube integrated, Holo Audio Spring 3 KTE DAC, audio optimized NUC7i5, Windows 10 Pro/JRiver MC29/Fidelizer Plus 8.7 w/LPS and external SSD drive, PS Audio PerfectWave P3 regenerator, KEF R3 speakers, Rythmik F12SE subwoofer, Audioquest Diamond USB cable, Gabriel Gold IC's, Morrow Audio SP5 speaker cables.
