HELP! What amplifier to get???

I currently have a Yamaha RX-V1065 powering 2 Polk RTi A9's, 2 RTi A3's, and a CSi A6. I would love to get a good amp that will produce enough high quality power and sound at the 8 ohm load to push these speakers. I would prefer a 3 channel and a 2 channel, or a 5 channel amp. The power that my Yamaha produces is good enough at higher volumes, but I would like the receiver to last and not produce as much heat.
HELP!!!!!!!!!

There is a GFA-7500 in the for sale. That would fit the bill and then some.
BenPlease. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. I have a Carver AV-505. It's rated at 80 WPC and 5 channels. It's not cosmetically perfect - some scratches on tops and sides, mostly from stacking. Because of that I can give you a really good price. If you are interested send me a PM.

Thanks, but I'm looking for something a little more powerful. -

Your right, I don't know very much about amps. I however do know that wattage typically doesn't matter. Please educate me and give me an "idiot" when it comes to amplifiers a quick rundown as to why that amp is better than say a carver that produces more power? I would just be worried I would be pushing the amp to its limits. -

This or the carver mentioned earlier in the post? -
I absolutely love my new (used) Parasound 1500a 2 channel. Huge difference from my Adcom 545. It could be just the additional wattage but I think it's more than that.2 CH

Ok so if I purchase the Carver AV-505 mentioned above at 80 watts per channel will it definitely out perform my yamaha RX-V1065 that puts out 110 per channel? I know I asked this before but I would like clarification. The carver is a 5 channel and I have a 7.1 setup, however I have a stand alone stereo amplifier for the rear channels. I just want to make sure I will notice a difference in my audio. I don't want to spend the extra cash if the results will be the same or less. Remember I am going to be powering 2 Polk RTi A9's, 2 RTi A3's, and a CSi A6 with the carver.
Thank you everyone for dealing with my stupidity! -

If this is a true statement, get the Carver. I believe you will have a noticeable improvement in sound, but even you don't, you'll be accomplishing the goal of taking the pressure off of the AVR.
This is how I got into separates a couple of years ago. Bought an Adcom 545 because my H/K 7300 was running so hot. I didn't notice a great improvement in sound, but the H/K definitely ran cooler. (FYI: the 7300 was the flagship model for H/K, so it's no slouch)Things work out best for those who make the best of the way things work out.-John Wooden -

I used to be a huge fan in H/K. The newer models however, not so much. -
HK amps used to be well respected back in the day. The older line of Citations could hold their own. Somewhere along the way (late 80's on???)things must have changed.... For $1200 you should be able to get some good used amps. Next question is what are you using it for,HT or music??? You can always mix it up, get something like a two or 3 channel Carver,Parasound,BK, Adcom,Rotel for up front and use what you already have for surrounds that are less demanding.

I would say I use my system for 60% HT and 40 % music. I am running a 7.1 setup also. That is why I was looking at a 5 channel and a 2 channel. -

You may or may not hear a difference with just an 80wpc seperate amp. I had a 50wpc Rotel amp, and when I got a 110wpc Denon receiver I couldn't hear a distinct difference between the 2.
I heard a huge difference when I got a 205wpc Parasound 1500A amp. I always recommend getting an amp of at least 200wpc. This seems to be the breakthrough for most people to hear a clear and distinct improvement in their speakers.
It is also powerful enough that you can keep the amp through all other upgrades to your system knowing that you have enough power to drive almost any speaker to its full potential.
So unless you are into constantly tweaking or checking out new toys, get the most powerful amp you can. I believe in going big once then sit back & enjoying it for years to come.Marantz AV-7705 PrePro, Classé 5 channel 200wpc Amp, Oppo 103 BluRay, Rotel RCD-1072 CDP, Sony XBR-49X800E TV, Polk S60 Main Speakers, Polk ES30 Center Channel, Polk S15 Surround Speakers SVS SB12-NSD x2 -
My camera is screwed, and has been for a while. Here are some fuzzy pictures. As you can tell, the top is scratched, as are some parts of the sides. The face is almost perfect. I think the pics don't do them justice. If you know someone in NJ that you'd like to take a look at it for you, that's fine with me. George Grand bought an amp from the same stack of gear, you may want to PM him and ask him about its condition. He's actually seen this amp as well, but I'm not sure he inspected it very well.

Thanks for the pictures, I just sent you a PM.
What does everyone think about this amp?
