With the good news of a job offer, and getting all my vacation time paid out to me from the previous job... I snagged up an HK 3490 used for a good price. I probably would have gone for the 3390, except I needed an optical input.

I love the look of these new models, and it should be pretty future-proof for any stereo needs I have as well. Anyone running this receiver?

I sold mine but loved it. The dimming feature is sweet. It pushed my SDA's nicely.

May I ask what you sold yours for (price as well as reason?)

It won't affect my overall satisfaction here... simply curious.

I sold mine to a forum member (Nickolas) for $150 I think.

Reason was that I tried out a Sunfire preamp. I change gear every few months just to try out different stuff. Buying and selling is fun to me.

I hear ya! I have a tendency to rotate gear quickly too, but I do hope this HK stays put for a little while.

I'd buy another one in a heartbeat if I needed a stereo.

Have any of you heard the Marantz SR4023 (80 watt@ 8 ohms) (100 watts @ 4 ohms)? I was also thinking of picking up an HK 3490 when I return to the states for a bookshelf system in my office but I was wondering if the Marantz might be even 'more' musical? May run it with some LSI-7s? Love that Vifa tweeter....!

Anyone know...? It's not like you can find these everywhere so you can hear them?

Congrats on the new toy Dane. I do like those HKs!

I bet that Marantz would compete with the HK pretty well. I've liked the Marantz receivers I've owned... if you can find a good price, give it a shot!
