UPS/Surge Suppressor for PC Recommendations

I need to replace my old Belkin surge suppressor that all my computer/home office gear plugs into. I'm looking for a good home office/prosumer type model hopefully in the under $250 price range. The requirements I have identified are to have the USB connection so I can connect up the NAS box (QNAP 439) that I will be installing, good buck/trim capabilities that doesn't rely on the battery for those functions, and decent back-up time to allow the system to shut down. I've read about the pure sign wave vs. squared wave on the power output, not sure what is really the best or needed.

I've been looking at units from Tripp Lite, APC, CyberPower as those are the brands I am aware of and see most.

What say the experts on this?

    APC. if you have an old one, you can trade it in on their model; they'll even give you a label to print & attached for FREE UPS shipping of your old unit. I've used APC exclusively for years. The PowerChute software is great to auto-shutdown when battery power is almost gone.

    So would this be a good one:

    APC Back-UPS RS 1500 UPS - 865 Watt - Lead acid

    There is a version with an LCD display, but the joule rating for surge protection is lower on the LCD version.
