RCA receiver worth working on?

I have an RCA STA-3900 Stereo receiver, I've had it for 7 years or so and it's worked fine for me until now. the right channel is starting go away I think. it's definitely the right because I switched around the wire to make sure. it's kinda sad too, it was my first piece of audio equipment that was really mine. my dad has 30 years of acquired equipment lol

I'm getting an Onkyo TX-8555 in the next couple of weeks but just thought I'd ask if the RCA was worth fixing or hanging onto?

THANKS!:D

Not familiar with the RCA model...but maybe all you have are dust and dirt problems in your control knobs...it might be worth using Deoxit http://www.amazon.com/DeoxIT%C2%AE-DN5-Mini-Spray-nonflammable-solution/dp/B000RGD9PK

And see if that helps. BTW, you'll like the Onkyo 8555, pretty good power, fairly clean at a 'really' LOW price.

Not to change the subject....but what are those speakers you have? Homemade ones? Got pics?

yeah I've only heard good things about that Onkyo. I'm getting it from crutchfield and they run out of them every 2 or 3 weeks say that and the reviews are all 5 stars should say something about too:) thanks for that link too, I'll probably get some of that and try it.

yep I made them and here they are before the PR's, the ones closest to the table.

THose look nice! Did you build your own XO's for these?

Sorry to derail your thread but I love DIY projects. :)

oh no it's ok:) nah, they're Radioshack 3-way crossovers. I want to learn how to build my own though, it'd be fun. isn't there a book for it?

btw, I have no idea what DIY stands for lol what does it stand for?

You put those cabinets/speakers together yourself? That's some 'really' nice work there! Very nice!!
