I bought mine for $800 and am very happy with it. I use it to occasionally power my LSI system, I swap out between 3 amps.

Other than appearance what is the difference between this amp and the TGA 5200?

If they are pretty much the same, then $1000 would be fair. Its not a deal, but a fair price, plus you know who/how it has been used.

The 5200 was made in China; the previous models were made in Snohomish, WA

I thought about getting this model but opted for the TGA5200 instead. Reason being, I read that the lamps in the meter have a high fail rate. Have you guys experienced that at all?

Mine was out. It didn't bother me much... in fact, it probably would have been more of a distraction if it was functioning.

Go for it, worst case you go see it and report back on the condition so another Polkie can buy it should you opt not to. ;)

    Agreed.

The lamp in my 400x7 hasn't worked for 3 years, and yes, they never seem to last more than a few months. As it doesn't really do a damn thing, I don't really give a crap if it works or not; the sound issuing forth from my speakers negates any thoughts of whether the lamp works or not~

I bought a Sunfire (Signature) Cinema grand Seven that was a store demo for $1900 out the door a few years ago. I thought I got a good deal plus I got the full factory warranty. For the money you just cant beat these ol' Sunfire Amps! :)

thats a good deal for the Cinema Five.
