The rules for the FM state you cannot sell your friend's gear. It needs to be your gear.

    Sorry,

What I was told at a 100 I could sell, 200 I could sell my friends stuff, and at 300 I would get my own harem! :D

    Sorry about that really.. :(

Can Echosphere buy his friend's stuff first, then resell them here?

    Sorry,

Not true! The seller just has to be a member and make sure he knows that he and he alone is responsible for any transactions. All prices must be listed and what sort of payment is accepted. It would also help to post pictures and state the condition of each peice of gear.

I know the rules have been modified since I sold gear for a friend but I was sure to mention that I am the one totally responsible for any transactions.

IF this is incorrect mods please correct me.

George, as interesting as the SP-8 is, he still needs to follow the rules.

Thanks for backing me up, but after re-reading the rules it very politely says it ain't a good idea to do that. Which pretty much means NO.

Though, it didn't say anything about price and I've seen a few people list without it?

I would think I should be able to buy it and then to sell here, but that's not my intention.

You do need to list a price as a package or individually . We aren't going to guess or bid against each other. You should also state the terms of your sale as in first person to show interest, dibs, first person to send money, only by PM or post interest in the thread, if you will include or charge extra for shipping, what payment method you will accept, how it will be packed, etc, etc. And pics will help a lot. However, you being new might really hamper your sale efforts so don't take it personally. :)

Aww, now that makes sense, I didn't think about a bidding war happening, hate that stuff. Much thanks and not taking any of it personally. If anything, I'm the newbie dork...

No one should lead him into lying so far he's been doing good as a member. Many of the members have claimed for tighter rules in the FS so why now that Polk has taken action should it be different?

Who ever wants to deal with this can take out of CP, right?

    Cheers!

Sorry TK but rules clearly state to buy your friends gear and then post it for sale. Do I don't see any need to read in between the lines.

Sorry, didn't mean to create friction.
I gather though the issue about selling "friends" gear has been an area of debate on these boards.

In regards to the pricing, I apologize as I wasn't trying to argue, since I'm relatively new, I simply didn't know. If they could add that part to the guidelines it would help noobs like me. :(

TechnoKid can correct me if I'm wrong. But I think he was trying to say that, as a good member, I wouldn't lie and SAY I bought the stuff just so I can post it here. I think that's why he wrote "read between the lines".
He wasn't arguing the rules, I think he just thought that NotaSuv was suggesting I SAY I just bought them so I can continue to post them here. Which is probably not what NotaSuv intended to mean.

Also, I think TechnoKid meant to say that if anyone is interested they can take this out of CP and deal one on one? Meaning, send me a PM with email and we could deal directly, just not on the forums?

That seems like a gray area, but if it's possible, that would be the best route now that we've already opened Pandora's box AND since this thread, as pictured above, has gone off course. :D

My friend is currently away on vacation this long weekend and I sent him an email asking for photos and price. He should get back to me tonight or tomorrow.

Would that be acceptable? Apologies again, if I just opened up another can of worms... :(

Btw, You folks are awesome! Appreciate you trying to help me out. :)

    No biggy Echosphere ;)

As I mentioned it seems your doing fine on this site and that taking chances with grey area might simply bring porblems you surely don't want.

There has been somes issues in the past with the FS forum but yet no one has came on to you with criticisms however, if this flies and members suddenly bash other new posters for doing the same that might again create some issues.

like I've mentioned, taking this out of the forum context might be the wise solution since no bad surprises would hit you back in the face in the long run (better be safe than sorry) ;)

    Cheers!

Guys, this really isn't that tough, and the rules are quite clear:

    Selling Guidelines

Note: Besides #1 & #2, the rest of these are just guidelines to make the sale easier.

    1. You must have a total post count of 100 (contribute to the other parts of the forum) before you can sell anything in the "For Sale (FS) Classifieds" or "Garage Sale" forums.
    2. List a price you wish to sell the item (include shipping costs). All members asking for secret bids (like ebay) will have their items removed.
    3. A price + OBO (or best offer) is OK. Please handle "best offers" through private messages.
    4. Post pictures of equipment with manual cords, etc..
    5. Give approximate age of item you are selling.
    6. State whether you are original owner.
    7. State condition of equipment (be honest if there is damage).
    8. Once the sale is complete, please post "SOLD" at the beginning or end of your thread.

    And this:

Selling gear "for a friend" doesn't count in this Flea Market. You, or your "friend" need to take direct responsibility for the transaction. You should encourage them to join and participate prior to FM sales. There have been a couple bad transactions where the seller has washed his hands of it, since it wasn't "his" originally. Sorry Charlie, if the gear is that good, buy it and sell it under your name and assume responsibility.

From Justin's #2 above, clearly you must state a price. From Patrick's rule, you can sell for a friend if you wish (although not preferable), but it is as if you are selling for yourself - you are 100% responsible for anything you sell on the forum.

Thanks for the details Big Dawg. In fact echosphere did state he was taking full responsibility for the sale (well done echosphere)
I take full responsibility for this listing and all items sold.
The only things he is missing are pictures and prices

Mike I stated that way back in post #7 how it got this far out-of-whack is beyond me.

I don't know, ALL of Polk Forum rules are very cut and dry. How there can be any debate or reading between the lines is also beyond me.

To emphazise my earlier post: I stand corrected ;) What was in my mind is some previous sale of the sort that tuned sour. Personnally, I wouldn't take responsibility for someone else gear just in case, wouldn't like to jeopardize a good reputation for example. On another note, it always been a big thing when newbie sells stuff so how about someone selling for a non member? Just food for thought ;)

    OH MY!!!!!!!!

    I am such a fool!!!

I never noticed that announcement link!! Since it was above the red line, it didn't look like a link to me... I am so sorry.

Hearingimpared, you are right this should not have gone as long, as it wouldn't have it I had simply clicked on that Announcement link! I only looked at the "sticky".

    I feel like a fool...

Wait now, that I finally read the "real" Announcement, this means if I get photos and prices I can post?

    Again, my apologies...

TK the issue was ALWAYS someone coming in here and racking up 25 senseless posts to be able to sell in the FM. Now that it is set to 100 posts, it's easier to enforce. Aveda aveda aveda aveda that's all folks.
