jut picked up a brand new (sealed n the box) onkyo ht-rc180 for $450 with free shipping!!!!im pumped ... through e-bay .....so is anyone running this receiver ...was it worth it .....i havent got it yet so not sure how it sounds....

    you guys can be honest good......bad... it had more to offer ht wise then the hk354 that was the other avr i was considering ....and it was new...i like new gear...

    the wattage ratings is 110 per channel but thats with two channels driven?????whats that all about???

    thanksbut what would the all channels driven rating be ????well really im runnng 5.1 at the moment...m60's fronts m30's backs cs1 center and a mirage bps150i powered sub ...think this receiver matches my setup ok???no blue ray yet, but i have a samsung 40" lcd 5530 still in the box.(i wanna set everything up all at once)

    what does everyone think of the weight i think its pretty impressive at 18kg thats usually a good way to judge quality amps no????

    hi evrybody need help matching my polk Rti 38 to my polk :rolleyes: psw 300 sub how thas it work the crossover stuff you know need help matching it to my denon avr-5600

    also any body has a manual for a denon avr -5600 I buy it from a friend for $ 150.00 he lost the manual .

    That AVR is very much like something closer to an Onkyo 807 series...in fact, I think the HT preface simply means that its an AVR that comes with Onkyo's best HTIB package and little else. Just think of it as an almost clone of the 807. So you did very well....on that price..

    And you're right that AVR has almost everything. Don't worry too much about the all channels ratings or we might get one of our regulars to 'resurface' and tell you what a crock of bull that rating is....

    You RARELY use FULL power to ALL channels at any given time.

    The weight simply means it has a pretty big transformer and supporting cast in the box....

    Most all channels driven rating are false when it comes to receivers, the companies gimmick around with how they do the test then pretty much lie in their brochures.

    I looked up the ratings for the Onkyo 706 AVR and the results were as follows:

    Onkyo 706 100wpc @ 8ohms
    1 channel = 133wpc
    2 channels = 122wpc
    5 channels = 75wpc

    If you want to hear what your speakers sound like when powered to their full potential, plan of getting a seperate amplifier at some point of at least 200wpc.

    yes in the next year, at some point , i plan on getting a seperate amp possibly a three channel, my problem is i like new....i dunno i dont feel comfortable with old .....but i also am not made of money....the three four hundred range is pretty much it.....whether i go three channel or five the onk is gonna run my surrounds which should free up some wattage....any thoughts or inputs on this????

    yeah good price sound good on my m60s and cs1 then it will open up the onk for my surrounds( until i get some more dough for like i dunno a upa 2 maybe) but first i wanna run the onk ht-rc180 see how that sounds.....save some cash .....then you kno .....make an educated purchase......still waiting on the onk to come by the way
