TV Contrast Ratio

I am looking at two TV's and and noticed the contrast ratios on them.

The Sony EX500 (LCD) has the Dynamic Contrast Ratio : 150,000:1

and the Sony EX700 (LED) has the Dynamic Contrast Ratio : Infinite


While both pictures in the store looked good would the EX700 have a better resolution?

    I am not sure which is better but, "Static or Native" contrast ratio is the more important factor when talking about contrast ratio.
    Manufactures can pretty well state what they like about Dynamic as there are no set rules on how to measure dynamic contrast ratio. Whenever a company states Dynamic ratios the numbers go through the roof and the buyer may think that it is better.
    Some good articles about it if you google. I am not slamming any comopany, just stating their practices.

    Don't get caught up in the specs. They don't mean squat. They are all manipulated to the point of being meaningless anyway. Look for professional reviews of each set and focus on the strong and weak points of each set (black levels, shadow detail, color rendition, motion resolution, etc)

    Contrast is "black level". Dynamic contrast specs are pretty useless. A properly calibrated panel would have any dynamic contrast setting switched "off". You want your black levels to be static.
