That table looks sweet! I prefer the tech look (VPI, Pro-ject etc). I sold my Linn Lp-12 years ago, I don't miss it THAT much. I'd never dump that much into a TT again, the new designs just look much cooler.

There was one here on cragis list but, the cart was replaced with a grado green. I think they wanted 850 but, i thought the cart, that came with the unit was supposed to be excellent.

The Clearaudio cartridge bundled with the TT15S1 isn't bad; I would be tempted to try a Grado on the Satisfy arm; but would probably aim for one of the wood bodied ones.

When (not if!) I break off the cantilever of my Clearaudio cartridge, I might go that route (or maybe a LOMC).

I would think that the tt itself in "like new" condition is well worth $850.

No offence on the seller of the one on craigs list but why would you put an 80$ cart... on that kind of turntable!!!! I would go for something on the MC side.

Hey Bro, aren't those wood bodied Grados very suseptable to the "Grado dance" if not perfecty matched with the tonearm?

Yes, and hum issues in some cases too. The Grados (while they like low-mass arms) are tolerant of medium-mass arms (IME); I wouldn't expect a problem, but there are "databases" of Grado issues and the information's probably available.

Still, the Grados are warm, sweet, satisfying-sounding cartridges to my ears and tastes - even the cheap ones.

TT arrived a day early. I was expecting an improvement but what I am hearing is much better than expected.

Very quiet and natural sounding. Soundstage is full and deep.

For the money and improvement in sound I am very pleased. Now my CDP does not sound better than vinyl.

    Cover has been ordered.

Take old vinyl over the new vinyl I bought lately except Knopfler Kill for crimson.

Cover was ordered from JMK Displays Inc. Same dimensions as Ginko on that link but 1/4 thick with 4"x3/4 side lifts and 16"x1" centered in the rear.

Half the price as Ginko shipped.

One thing I had not counted on with new TT is how tight the spindle is, love it. My wife is having to watch hockey in the bedroom.

Thanksd for the cover info; mine is just collecting dust (and inviting kitteh-damage).

Yeah, I like old vinyl too... but there is new stuff being made every day (although the quality does seem to be somewhat uneven).

Well the Classic Records, Rhino Records, and MFSL offering among others are all excellent. A bit pricey but excellent.

Nice that MoFi is back in the licorice pizza business, isn't it?

I am still quite happy with the ones I bought in the late-1970s; modern tastes claim that ol' Stan Riker was a little heavy handed on the EQ when he remastered the discs; but they're dead quiet on the JVC SuperVinyl and still sound very good to me. We recently compared the old MoFi Aja with a fairly early ABC original copy (both purchased new by me) and the MoFi carried the day.

Yep I have at least 7 copies of Aja including the 80s MFSL original master recording and several of the latest heavy vinyl releases and the 20+ year old MFSL bests them all!

You gotta check out the new MFSL Original Master Recording of Santana's "Abraxas!" It gives you eargasms as well as a spiritual experience especially on my SDAs. Man is it really great!

Have you heard any of the 8 UHQRs from the 80s? They are spectacular.

THanks for the tip; I think the only copy of Abraxas at my house was a dump find :-P

Never heard any of the UHQRs; I was too busy in grad school and starting a family to do much hi-fi'n in the 80s.

Back on topic, it will be very interesting to hear what albums the OP has listened to on his (or her?) new TT-15S1 and his/her impressions... that "blue sky" MCA in the photos isn't likely to be the best sounding thing on the shelf!

A nice clean original of Abraxas is my go to album for showing off the SDA effect. This was a superbly recorded album to begin with, I can't imagine how much better a MFSL of it would be.

Even though my name is Tracy I am male;).

Forget what was playing when I took the pics but here is what I listed to last night.

    Willis Jackson Nothing Butt
    Poco Blue and Grey
    Dire Strait Brothers In Arm
    Yes Fragile
    Cars

    Chris Rea
    Al Di Meola

I guess I was not a believer because if I would have been I would done this upgrade sooner but I am now.

I am surprised the Cambridge Audio 640P is not holding the 15 back, maybe it is and I don't know it.

    Anyway, I am very pleased

Tracy & Mr. Hardy, check this link out. It is Classis Records catalog. If you see anything you like from them BUY IT with confidence as their offerings are sonically excellent and their heavy vinyl offering are even more stunning.

    http://www.classicrecords.com/search.cfm

There are several other companies that I've purchased new vinyl, rereleases, etc. Most can be found at places like the following. If you click these links and go through their catalogs, you can click on the records you are interested in the name of the manufacturer usually comes up. You can the go right to their website to see all the the vinyl they put out.

Here's something interesting for you and Mr. Hardy. It is a rerelease of the Stones Let It Bleed on 180 gm vinyl. It is done in DSD. When I first listened before reading the liner notes or cover, I kept thinking to myself, "man, this sounds just like an SACD!" Sure enough when I read the cover it was indeed done in DSD. It just sounded awesome BUT it didn't have that airy openess of the analog version I have. It was however dead, dead quiet and there was that really good weight to the music that I find in SACD.

It is definitely worth a listen and owning.

Check it out. As a matter of fact I did a short review on this link of my impressions way back when I bought it.

    http://store.acousticsounds.com/d/12495/The_Rolling_Stones-Let_It_Bleed-180_Gram_Vinyl_Record

If you click on the LP picture it will pop up with some tabs, one of them being reviews.

Mark after all these years I was pretty sure it was Mark but Mart as in Martin kept popping into my head and I just didn't want to call you by the wrong name. Thanks for straightening that out.

BTW if you are ten years older than me, I'll have to call you SIR!:D Pop, rest his soul, tattoo'd that to my brain.
