I'm looking for input from anyone who knows or has heard the Parasound HCA-2205A power amp. I have an opportunity to pick one up locally. It is 220wpc @ 8ohms and 300wpc@ 4Ohms.

This is a really good sounding amp from a really good company. If you found a good deal on one, I would jump all over it. They have a really detailed sound with nice soundstage and imaging, without being harsh. The sound leans more towards the neutral to just slightly warm side of things meaning they sound good with a lot of different pres and sources. Great amp! Jump on it.

Hello,
A friend had one, gave him many problems in 4-ohm speakers.
RECOMMENDED then tested with 4-ohm speakers -
I have been running this amp for several months now, no problems what so ever. I would classify it as pretty neutral sounding with a ton of balls...all five of them. No issues driving 4ohm LSi's.Parasound C1, T3, HCA-3500, HCA-2205A, P/DD1550, Pioneer DV-79avi, Oppo BDP-83, WD Media Server W/HDD,

I have been looking for a neutral to warm sounding AMP for 2-channel / HT use for a while now to drive my RTiA series, and I think the 2205 may fit the bill.

its a good amp. I was looking at the 2250 for awhile which is like this. good amp for a good price IMO.

I'm trying to decide if I should pony up the $800 (or offer less) (once I find out what the bill is going to be to get my Pioneer AVR fixed) or wait for a deal on a Parasound Halo A51 which from my research seems to be the holy grail of Parasounds.____________________________________________________________

If you can pick it up for $800 working....don't flinch.Parasound C1, T3, HCA-3500, HCA-2205A, P/DD1550, Pioneer DV-79avi, Oppo BDP-83, WD Media Server W/HDD,

I have 3 of HCA-2205AT which I used with LSi speakers for HT. They rocks the house and I found them nice sounding with LSi series. I have tried Adcom and Rotel but I like HCA-2205AT best for my HT room.
Now, you just make sure the amp works well and tested it for about 30 minutes. This amp runs warm to hot so if there is any problem, it usually shows up in 20-30 minutes of usage. One of my amp is giving me trouble when it's running Hot. If you do buy it, use it in well ventilated area.Trying out Different Audio Cables is a Religious Affair. You don't discuss it with anyone.:biggrin: -

Thanks, good to know. Unfortunately, the destination for the power amp is inside my cabinet. I have 2 fans running on my Adcom right now (which doesn't really run too hot) and I keep the door adjar when running at high volumes. Not much else I can do in my situation.____________________________________________________________

I have owned the Para 2205ATonce and it drove my MLs ( SL3 front, Cinema center, Aerius I rear) just fine. The Sl3 can drop below 2 ohm. The only " flaw" in design is the 5 set of binding posts are to close together so spade lugs are not an option.
SQ wise, it's damned good.
I bought it new in box and Para does not make another just like it any more. If memory serves me well, believe the transformer size is 2 KAV as heavy duty as the Krell KAV250.
